enquiry on strats

hello guys.. need to enquire another question again, about strats this time.
regarding the vast variety of strats and strat copies out there, i'm not really sure if fender's still the best and most reliable brand of strats anymore.. currently i'm thinking of getting one, as my 2nd guitar.

tried out a fernandes strat, it sounded pretty good too. hence i was wondering if MIM fender strats are really reliable. of course MIAs will be DA BOMB, but regarding other brands/ copies, are there any really reliable/
good-sounding/ affordable strats that are around e market? and.. if possible be made in japan instead of korea or china?

i've tried a few yamaha strats, not too sure which models. they seem to play the best for me, even better than MIM fender strats.

IMO fenders are probably the most reliable strats out there. unless you take the suhrs or tylers into the picture. but fenders are really worth it imho, you just HAVE to test them out before you buy, even MIAs, because of the fairly poor QC. some MIMs can equal an MIA(they're not really that good) in terms of feel and playability and maybe even build quality, but the pickups might not be as good though.
nothing beats a real strat.

i recommend tyler, grosh, anderson, suhr, melancon, gvcg, lentz. they make really good strat copies and are really reliable!

dont buy for the brand name, and even where it is made in, mexico or whatever isnt a proper gauge to judge a guitar man..

i'm not really good, just a starter looking for playability and something valuable.. yep.

being MIM, MIC or MIK isnt a good way of choosing a guitar... but if i were to really find one that will blow me over, it would probably take years... and i need the kinda average one that will last a few good years, and that i can modd to enhance its usefulness... not just buy, then realise its not good enough and change.. yeah (money is rly e issue here for me..)
well i'm sure u guys know when you were still starters... hmm.

if money really is an issue, you could go 2nd hand but do test the guitar out first, THEN make your decision, not the other way around.

about 400-600... somewhere midrange to me.. so i can still mod it.. yep.

with a MIM, usually you wouldnt need to change much cept for the pickups if you're really picky.
the tuners on them are good enough, pots for the last few yrs have been all CTS.
