Elixirs users. What's your resort?

This is the second time i bought the bloody plain steels electric guitar elixirs without anti-rust plating.

First time was because i didn't see the packaging and didn't read the news.

The second time i knew, and even asked the salesman at music theme why doesn't it have the word anti-rust plating stated. He told me it's all the same.

It's not the same dude, i just restrung my guitar with elixirs (as always)
and the G B E plain steels is tarnished. I would expect it to rust tomorrow.

Anybody wanna suggest new coated strings for me? The coated GHS boomers don't really work for me, and the Ernie Ball coated is nonsense.

They have still yet to resolve their anti-rust issue, for 8 months already.
The shelves are all hit up with non-anti-rust plain steels. Sigh.

I've had the same issue with u, I seeked replacement. And after going rounds trying while lot of other strings, I stop at kurt mangan strings. They are priced about the same and to me sounds better. The lifespan is about the same. So kurt mangan it is for me. But for players with sweaty palm like me, it's gonna just rust Abit faster. But tone wise, it's very good. It gives me that springy feeling that I really like. Don't know how to describe. I feel u bro, I feel u. Hope it's of help.

I noticed that elixir strings aren't packaged in an airtight condition as compared to Ernie Ball or Dunlop strings. Mine rusted within a day. As for the shop you bought from, stuff in Music Theme is a little overpriced, and the guitar tech isn't really knowledgeable. I once asked them if they stocked Bigsby, they showed me to the Wah-Pedal section. -.-
If you go in and ask the guy about aluminium tailpiece/bigsby or other unique guitar parts, he won't be able to answer you.

Scavenge for all the remaining anti-rust steel Elixirs available in SG :) Alternatively, there are also a number of people selling the original anti-rust elixir strings on Ebay. I'm also in the same dilemma as you bro haha.

Likewise. GHS Boomers, D'Addario coated strings, some brand SV recommended me - all of them either lost tone in one week or tarnished and rusted. I wipe them everyday since I have sweaty palms but it didn't help.

I REALLY need those Elixirs. I've never had to experience dead strings in a few years so it was quite a culture shock for me.

Lol welcome to all the peeps who have the same bloody problem.
Not really sweaty palms for me, just corrosive fingers.
Kurt Mangan not cheap sia. THe tone is good though.

no leh, they are almost the same price as elixirs at the local dealer. but one thing about kurt mangan is that the coating is still not as good as elixirs.

I really can't wait for Elixirs to bring back the anti-rust. Consistent tone for months; bright and snappy without the problem of tarnishing or rusting.

How bad are the non-anti-rust ones? I find it somewhat disturbing that during the transitional period between both anti-rust and non-ar stocks, the newer ones were priced lower. Now that the anti-rust one is out of stock they charge the old prices for the non-anti-rust ones in stores.

Where did u buy the Kurt Mangan dude? Im pulling my hair cos of the Elixirs i need to resovle this pronto haha!

Huh, today is not even 24 hours from my string set change, and my G B E is black.
Black okay, black =D.

And the tone for the plain steels sound different man...
Either that or my already dead tube amp is making it worse.

Elixirs E, B and G strings aren't coated anymore. (Kinda defeats the purpose)

I haven't got a chance to try the GHS coated but since you have tried them and they seem to be crap, my alternative is to use stainless steel strings. Well at least the wound part doesn't rust as fast, just like the new elixirs.

Have you tried Ernie Ball Titaniums? The DR Neon or any color coated strings in general suck.

I haven't these but will be eager to know the results if anyone want to try it.

Curt Mangan strings for the win (y) got the coated ones at Guitar77 and they're STILL FINE on my guitar (since feb this year)
Elixir, new pack on thursday. By now its gone. ='(

Guys, brendon got no more stock.
Will hit the d'adds or kurt mangan soon.
I heard the kurt's before, they sound different, good.

For me, I don't quite dig the EXPs since I prefer the sound of Elixir over it as well as the plain steels lasting not quite as long as those from Elixir (YMMV).

That said, I do still use them as a cheaper alternative to Elixirs.

i'm down to feel & tone, the Elixirs are quite hyped for the chemical treatment, but i'm into the steel tone & feel, regardless if they last longer or otherwise. curt mangan- this used to be my go-to brand, stopped buying after they didn't bring in the .0095 set.

I know how you feel about them sub.
But you don't know us.. haha.
Elixirs are like part of us already.
I wouldn't care so much about tone if my strings won't even last a week.
My fingers and brain do the work of tone for the elixirs that may sound really terrible or unsatisfactory to some.
