Agreed. Then in what way could an Epiphone be compared to an american strat? When both are at the same price?

If you think you can get a good quality Epiphone which matches that of a Gibson, you're sorely mistaken.

ouh..say la ur talking about quality..

tsk.my bad.

but den if the fella wants to go for LP...wad can we do?

unless he goes for smth like edwards or orville.

thanks ppl for the advice.personally, i have used my friend's elitist lp custom before.the tone and playability is better than a gibson les paul standard from what i have felt.but the good gibsons are way better, like those from the gibson custom shop or the les paul supreme or VOS.i also believe that other jap copies rarely surpass the elitist which has superior quality.btw, i am looking for a les paul.but not any prs

Actually there's another local shop that has the Epiphone elitist. Saw it on their site, but I can't seem to locate it.

:?

The elitist series have had very little complains about them from those in other forums. The only gripe some have is the tombstone headstock

the headstock design is not a problem, thatts what gives the elitist look apart from other les pauls.anyway, wheres the shop?whats the name??

As a word of advice, you should go and play as many standards as you can. Guitars, like many other things, aren't as "standard" as we'd like them to be. Les Paul Standards are the best bang for the buck for gibsons. you just have to find the nice ones to play. Play as many as you can.

which do you like? the 50s? or the 60s profile? Play more the find out. Do you like swiss cheese? or chambered?

Think about this. Gibson owns Epi. You think they'd let their B brand surpass them in anyway?

And also, if the jap copies are so bad, then why did Gibson feel threatened in the first place?

well,i have tried about 12 different standards from gibson, and the elitist still plays better.12 tries not enough?

isnt epi elitist like really uber. the workmanship is pretty good and its not the standard range of epis. its like <high> and they make guitars like the riveria. v nice.

guys guys, he seems quite set on an elitist lah. after all, it IS a jap copy with really really relaly good workmanship and tone. its all about personal preference yah?

guys dont get so worked up!

Gibson doesn't need to care. The name in itself sells. Besides, the Epiphone Japan branch which makes the elitist models can be seen as a totally different branch from the Epiphone under Gibson, just like how Fender Japan is a different branch from Squire.

I think it leaves no doubt that the Japanese Les Pauls ie. Burny, Orville, and Tokai have a better QC than Gibson. Gibson created their Epiphone Elitist subsidiary in order to compete with the Japanese copies then, which were very well-received due to their great workmanship and competitive pricing that subsequently ate into Gibson's sales. Had they created a subsidiary which was even worse than Gibson it would have defeated the purpose of creating it in the first place.

Now here's the interesting fact which ends all arguments. Epiphone Japan is simply Orville under a different name. Both are handled and produced by Yamano Gakki. So, to those that think Orville is a better buy than Epiphone Japan, well, that thinking is flawed to put it nicely.

hi people thx.i have alr decided to get a elitist custom in november right after my o levels from ishibashi, and probably 2 used gibson VOS too :D
