Okaye guys so heres the story.
When i wanted to take the cymbal out of my cymbal bag, i realised it was inverted. It kinda looks like a china now. But it doesnt sound like one! Still sounds like a crash.
Im thinking if i should:
1)Try bending it back. But if it breaks.... gosh. ill regret.
2)Just continue using it as a crash and hopefully it will bend back:) hahahahaha.
3)SHOULD I BE WORRIED OR BE PROUD OF IT.
4)Im heading down to swee lee later. So i'll just ask whats their intake on this. Dont expect them to help though:/
5)Anyone has experienced this before? May be its the heat?

Share your thoughts!

wow... haha.. does it still sound the same as when it was in its original shape?
Quite surprising to see that happen to a sabian, what's more a higher end cymbal

I play in an Orchestra and sometimes with many new inexperienced percussionists
so I happen to have seen that three times?

And guess what? That happened cos someone stepped on them!

All three times bending it back was not a problem.
The metal's very strong I dont think its gonna be a problem?
but no gurantee~ haha

ehhh but bending back super scary? if it cracks??? My heart also crack. hahaha.
yeaaa i didnt expect it to bend??!?!? gosh but my friend ask me to let drummers siggnnnn then keep it:0 ahhaha

If its because of the heat, try freezing it in the fridge?
If it works do post again.
AT UR OWN RISK (:
Nah i dont noe how to mend this prob..

From what I've read on cymbalholics, shouldn't be a problem flipping it back (unless it has existing cracks/defects). But it's only what I've read, never had to do it before. Mike Skiba, a cymbalsmith, was once quoted as saying give it a week or two for the metal to readjust and it should be back the way it was.

A while ago I bought a 19" Mehmet jazz ride for a deep discount because no one else seemed to want it. I can see why--it's quite heavy, and most Istanbul shoppers don't want heavy cymbals. But I've used it for blues/rock sessions in a small bar and it sounds great.

Anyway, the day after I bought it, I stupidly stepped on the bell, completely inverting the cymbal. To flip it back, I had to prop one edge on the floor and pull with both hands while jamming my knee in the bell. Man, it takes some force to invert a thick cymbal! It made a tremendous "FWOP!" sound when it flipped back, but I've noticed no negative effects whatsoever. Not something I'd recommend repeating, though!

With hand cymbals inversion is relatively common (just consider the way those get slammed together). You just pop them back and you're in business again, it's really not a big deal and I've never seen any adverse effects from it. I usually put it on the floor and use a foot along with two hands. Thwap!

It's no biggie after you've seen it & done it a bunch.

lol that happened to my stagestar stock cymbals after i step on it. quite easy to bend back for the cymbal but urs...diff case ahaha

i tink u shudnt try to bend it back.. coz ur cymbal is those expensive kind.. smth happen to it v xintong kind =X juz use it as an effects cymbal ( like a crash/ trashy china? lol?) and hope that in time to come it returns to normal?

Just bend it back. Seen it been done at least 3 times already.Cymbals are meant to flex...just not for this scenario.Haha.

If you're don't wanna do it...send it to our local cymbal doctor ( *ahem* drum_hobbyist )

send it to our local cymbal doctor ( *ahem* drum_hobbyist )

no need lah..this type of small small problem can be easily fix by us all.

Bring the bengkok cymbal to Starbuck … we all have Coffee at Starbuck at his account , when we have all finished out drinks – We put it on the ground…..and shout out to everyone drinking there at Starbuck asking them all to join us - - - Then - all of us stand on top of the chairs (table also can) there.

Now when I count … to 1 – 2 - 3 – Everyone jump onto the cymbal .. problem solve and everyone have fun...me cleber right ? Kekekekekkeke !

Let me tell you all something lah ... The truth is - Bro Drum Hobbyiest cannot make Cymbals Straight ...because he is no " David Copperfield " who can make Spoon Straight...then bengkok again then straight again (without touching it) ...hahahahhahahha...but thats call Illusions (so it's not real).

So if Drum Hobbyiest can - he will make more $$$$ than David Copperfield here already. hahahahahahha true ?

The only thing Drum Hobbyiest (without touching it) can make Bengkok then straight again is - You know I know lah - what that is. hahahahha - all of us also can here lah...but thats not call Illusions.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ? where is Drum Hobbyiest lah ................. Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo ? Where are you ..... still dont come out har ? Kekekekkekekekke.

RD bro, wah say such things to force me to come out right? Now i come out, happy? Lately, i have been busy experimenting new methods to improve the character of cymbals. will post a thread on that soon.

RD mei mei, just bend back the cymbal. If you are too afraid to do it, i will gladly do it for you :) if break when i do it, you can choose from my collection of sabians of your liking for an exchange :)
