effects pedals

Hi, I´ve been reading up on effects pedals recently, and man, I´m just starting to find out there are so many cool vintage effects out there.. Got a few questions, hope you guys can help out: Who should I listen to to get a good idea of what the Ibanez TS9 sounds like? What does the 808 mod do? Anyone tried playing through an Analogman Sun Face pedal before? How does it stack up against the TS9 wif 808 mod?

Thanks in advance!

the TS9 is a booster more than anything else. it´s a very weak overdrive if you choose to see it as one. i´m using the TS9 to boost my leads. if you read in forums elsewhere, the TS9 is always pitted against the BOSS Blues Driver, which IMO is an immaterial comparison.

however, if you invest in a good amp, chances are you won´t need such supplementary pedals. good amps have impressive on-board overdrive.

Thanks, sub. I was surfing on Maxon´s website and I saw that their OD-9 looks just like the TS9.. What´s the diff man? Any idea where I can go to test-drive these 2 pedals?

Budget a lil tight now for an amp.. an effects pedal will have to do first

maxon pedals are available @ Davis. the attempts by Maxon to replicate popular pedals is somewhat quashed by the original brands itself, namely because they have their own affordable versions. take the TS9 for instance, the Ibanez Tonelok series has a very good offering in terms of the TS7, it even has the ´Hot´ switch to replicate the Turbo Tube Screamer setting. the current TS9 reissue itself is affordable so i say go for the real thing

if there´s any diff, then it´s the brand name more than anything else... the TS9 have been preyed upon quite comprehensively along the way.

the TS 808 mod will make the TS9 ´vintage´ sounding (at least to me), some players prefer their TS9 to possess this ´grainy´ fuzz-like quality of the 808, it´s a matter of preference. having heard the 808, i prefer the smooth midrange offered by the TS9.

What´s up?

Long time no c? Howz life people?

Anyway juz wanted to chip in if ya really want to get OD pedal...check out a Tonebone Classic, its really good. I agree with Sub, TS9 is a booster cuz when the distortion level is set at max, and when I strum a chord I can´t get any crunch out of it.

Check out any SRV songs or Kenny Wayne Shepred ones you should get a pretty good idea of what a TS 808 sounds like.

that´s right, SRV & KWS are the ones who who fully utilize their tube screamers. KWS even link up 2X TS9 + 808 in his FX chain... whew...

hey Beast, where you been?

Hi guys!

Are the TS-9s and TS-9DX etc, produced by Ibanez, are actually manufactured by Maxon??

Also, are rumours true that the tubescreamers will no longer be Made In Japan, but instead made in China???

Cheers =)

Btw, any good modding sites with schematics or explanations as to what resistors control wat stuffs?
