Earthquaker Devices Disaster Transport Delay..can it do skreddy?

just saw the demo of the new earthquaker devices delay and i was wondering if it can do skreddy like sounds seeing that both of them are tape delay simulators. with similar functions and specs.

the pgs demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8vQQ01uIFk&playnext_from=TL&videos=N9Hgb9oe-t4&feature=sub

something i cop-ed from tgp member demoing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3rjN_OAuyg&feature=player_embedded#!

can the transport delay get the dark/modulated/long repeats sound like the 2nd demo?

thanks for everyone's input!

I currently own the disaster transport and i would say no too.

The uniqueness about the disaster transport i would say lies in the fact that its a very very mids inclined delay pedal. This may suck at bedroom playing levels but apparently shines more in a mix.

You can ask dudelove. He currently owns an echo and a DMM. formerly he owned the disaster transport which im using now.

:)

thanks guys. i was hoping the transport delay could do some skreddy tho..if it could it'll be a much cheaper alternative without too much waiting time too.

cant afford the echo now cos of slash haha. :p

There's a reason why the Echo costs so much... I don't know electronics so you can slam the cost of the components and stuff but to get that kind of tone from a digital circuit? I'm baffled. It's pretty good to say the least.

While you are at it, go try a Subdecay Echo.

At the same time, note that the digital delay pedals can usually take up to 12v (some 15v and the Skreddy is 18v) for higher headroom.

oh and if you're refering to the new disaster transport i havent heard it yet. What i have with me is the older discontinued version. So whether the new ones has any improvements or not im unclear. ( Havent had the time to watch the demos .) What im basing my observations on are purely foundered upon the older model

i dont know bout electronics and ive not tried a huge amount of delays yet but yeah. you dont hear digital delays getting sounds of that quality often.

yeah, ill go try the echobox. could be what im looking for.

im looking for a 2nd delay now, the echopark i got now is ok but ive had problems with the switching and the knobs seem flimsy. could get kicked off with one mis-step on the pedal.

thanks again for the suggestions and input eh.

yeah. im referrring to the new one but i dont think they changed it completely so im hoping what u said still applies for the new one haha. thanks for informing me.

I've tried the Echobox, Disaster transport and the Skreddy Echo.

The disaster transport is actually discontinued, both old and new ones. It has very mid inclined repeats and the thing that made me sell it was the repeats got brighter as it decayed. Something like those annoying clock noise of digital delays. If you really want a Disaster Transport you can hunt one down on TGP. They go for very affordable prices.

Nope. If you want a delay that sounds like a Skreddy Echo you've gotta wait or pay 400usd ++ for a 2nd hand piece.

I'd suggest getting a DMM. That, imo, is the best sounding modulated delay ever, period. Better than the Echo.

I know, because I own both.:p

edit: I just found out there's a NEWER version, PGS just did a video. My bad..

Btw, the difference between the new Disaster Transport and the old is..

The new one does not have a pop when the bypass switch is engaged, and, it also doesnt have an annoying volume boost when the delay is engaged.

This is a very very good demo and you'll get what I mean by the EQDT's repeats getting brighter as it decays. Compare it to the DMM and you'll find out why the DMM is loved so much.

However, I do not know if the new EQDT sounds like that since it has a new tone control..

heh, stuck a low pass filter into any delay with effect loop, the repeats will have instant degrade mode..

If only theres more delay pedal with effect loop, one can do many type of delay style, from octave up/down delay, sample and hold delay repeats to any form of modulated delay.

you're right Pathein... however the way the repeats degrade has an impact on how it cuts thru the mix or not. That's where it gets kind of finicky as too much cut and the sound-on-sound repeats might not be heard clearly in the mix and too little cut makes the repeats cut into whatever you're playing.

Minor hassle though.

Somehow, I miss my MIJ DD-3.

hehe, add another eq pedal in the loop, pump up the frequency where the low pass frequency dwell. Boost da low pass till it cut thru like ginsu knife.

btw, your 8 strings, sexy lah, after stripping the back.

I had the urge to facepalm when I read abt ur idea of the EQ pedal. AWESOME! Cutting bass! As in "cutting-thru-the-mix" bass! Geddit? :P

Yah, sexier methinks too... I like it.

dudelove: yeah i can hear the brighter repeats on the transport delay. damn, the dmm sounds good in the demo too but its damn big ah..my pt2 sure cannot fit but the modulated delay power.

shredcow: i just saw the vid of your c8. is the neck alot less sticky now? i remembered playing it, i probably looked lost and retarded doing so haha, but i remembered you complaining bout the neck being sticky esp when your palms get abit sweaty.

the stripped colour looks better now tho.
im chunkit btw.
