yea, after meeting shred5, i was convinced to get ear plugs, but havent really got them yet.

pooo, for most bands which have jammed more than a month together, they normally don't try to "out-loud" each other on the amps, everyone normally turns the volume to suit the drummer, but even so, i get ringing ears, just from hearing the drums itself in the studio... :?

(not directed to anyone)in my opinion, it doesnt make one tough just because he doesn't need ear plugs. I dont care man, i acknoledge that jamming in a studio hurts my ears(as testified by the muffled hearing i get after jamming), and im not gonna let them get destroyed just like that!

It has nothing to do with being tough thtz just a fact u dont need earplugs for the simple case of jamming. Dont wear earplugs tough ah? Hahah where the fock u gt th frm? Until now i have nvr seen or heard abt ppl wearing earplugs for jamming. Itz medically alright for ur ears with the jamming studios we have in spore, or rather all jamming studios in the world.

There are no right or wrong in wearing earplugs.. Its just personal preferences.

Nobody has the right to diss anybody just because they stuffed their ears with 2 little foam or sponge.

I know that bcos I never diss ppl for doing wearing or not wearing.

I've been hitting drums since I started to play so for obvious safety reason and for long term health assurance of my hearing, having a pair of earplugs always comes in handy.

I don't want to become like the wife of Pat Mat Tempeh in the movie Seniman Bujang Lapok or worse..

Bt y do u guys need earplugs for?? Jamming? Wth..ye must b kiddin me. Earplugs r for extreme circumstances like on the runway of an airport or a very big gig with lots of amps n PAs if ur performing.

I guess U are just to play guitar or drums or bass or keyboard then. Everyone knows dat by constant exposure to extreme noise, ur ear will get affected somehow. If its not now, its later.

I know of this guy who went jamming to who had a very damn bad guitar sound. I don't want to mention names but i think he's a soft member too. Its so damn bad dat either he's that DEAF dat couldn't hear it himself to go and made it better or just plain ignorance.

And he didn't bring his effect pedals adaptor. Its either he's too stonedeaf forgetful or an ignoramus.

If only he's wearing an earplug, he would have notice the fault cos he was sitting on a chair right in front of the amplifier. 8O

Just my 2 cents worth of view..

Hey hey relax i wasnt dissing no1 i just asked a question thtz all n sum1 had ta say i try to look tough

I think michaelangelo was referring to the typical mindset of kids who think wearing earplugs are for fuddy duddies....or wimpish.

+1 to shred5's point

Though i don't really wear earplugs now, reason due to not so regular jamming, but i think anyone who's regularly in a jamming room and stuffs like that ought to get a good pair of ear plugs. It's not a one off thingy like a bloody loud concert which will ruin your hearing, it's the constant exposure to the noise that will affect hearing.

popeye: Actually, there are earplugs catered for musicians. The frequency or level attenuation isn't the same as those earplugs for rifle shooting or swimming, so they can hear each other's guitar/bass tone etc. but with the db reduced unlike using swimming earplugs which basically is just to totally block your ears

So did i say wearing earplugs r for fuddy duddies or is wimpish? Lots of great ppl wear earplugs during concerts so tht aint wimpish ma man.

i was just referring to his point. If you think i'm referring to you then so be it, advice to you is try to read and understand what people are replying to. Even michaelangelo wasn't referring to you in his post i believe. I went through proper English education at the very least to comprehend/read.

Hahah. Itz psychological understanding dude. We all know when we say "(not directed to anyone)in my opinion, it doesnt make one tough just because he doesn't need ear plugs" it actually INDIRECTLY IS directed to some1. Well so much for earplugs. Dont wanna go off topic do we. Mr James is watching.

haha, i finally bought earplugs today after leaving the jamming studio today with muffled hearing again...I got them from a pharmacy, it claims to have a noise reduction of 29 decibels, is that too drastic or too weak? I've got no idea how decibels measure up. :)

Unity? never heard that b4.
where arh?
i oso want to get one, just in case while in a gig.

*edit*
k, nvm. jurongpoint got...
thnx ar.. :D

no prob bro, i was about to reply that i got it from East Point, would be pointless to tell you that too since you are in the west. hehe... :)

I don't get it... why jam till your ears ring? Its gotta be REALLY LOUD to make your ears ring.

Just be considerate and get you fellow band mates to be considerate. You don't need to be that loud IMO.

It could possibly be an example of "i want to be heard"
