And so i can't resist posting, guitarists should have balanced volumes, and leads investing in clean boosters to up the volume level during the solo only. Everyone can have a great time without ear plugs muffling out some of the sound.

I don't get it... why jam till your ears ring? Its gotta be REALLY LOUD to make your ears ring.

Just be considerate and get you fellow band mates to be considerate. You don't need to be that loud IMO.
nono bros, not "i want to be heard syndrome", yes, I had my days of that, 2 years ago when i was into punk rock...haha...

well, its because we follow the drums, our volume is adjusted to suit the drums, and our drummer says he cant get any softer. So no choice left...Even with no other instruments playing except the drums, my ears feel a painful impact everytime the kickdrum is stepped on plus the cymbal being hit. Maybe i've got sensitive ears? haha... :?

please understand, really, its not that we are all trying to go louder than one another. We know and love the sound of a balanced performance, and have been together for a reasonably long time(considering our age of around 17 years) to know each other, thus we do not just try to make ourselves heard and distinguished from the rest. As i said, those days are long gone.

i only wear earplugs when i know i'm gonna scream in the studio, besides that, i also always wear when hanging out with rookie drummers<---they usually don't have very good volume control
