This is not a cheap alternative, but I use Bose Accoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones. Allows you to plug into a metronome while protecting your ears.

hmmmm.. guys i use the almost same kind as danial. that cheap kind. you feel its good enough? hahai dun wanna go deaf. but i got complians from my band that wheni put plugs i go tooo loud. hahaha

just buy ear foams from watsons or any pharmacy for that matter. costs 50cents if im not wrong.
