drumstick for the dumb

i know what u mean. Most people hate them anyways. I know i'll be outcasted for even trying zildjian sticks....

anw...

point being i switched to vaters

PS: i still havnt broken a single stick.not even zildjian. maybe im a soft hitter. anyway why so brutal against Zildjian?bad experience?

Where got brutal. We r all loving people =)

yea. i got bad experience with zild sticks too la, already said b4 so dun wan to elaborate haha

BUT, iam still a pro-mark 'fan'

hello!

i broke about 5 sticks so far. mostly due to the rim shots. i didn't like the zildjian material, weight, tip blar blar. it just gives me a weird feeling to hold on to it. anyway i played with zildjian sticks for 2 years when i started out! u guys tried vic firth? i prefer them than others! well thats preferance. i had bad experience with vaters too. i tend feel that as time goes by, the tip of the drumsticks tend to get soft. don't give me a nice sound on my ride anymore. vic firth is pretty reliable on that and is pretty durable. well PERSONAL PREFERENCE!!

LOL i broke a Zildjian Travis barker sticks (i'm not a fan though.. i liked it cuz it was white :D )

and i broke a Vicfirth dave weckl evolution. haha oops??

well after testing out lots of zildjian sticks, i got bored and switched to Vicfirth and the feeling was AMAZING. the rebound, weight, tip, length EVERYTHING!! it seemed like every Vicfirth stick matched wat i needed for comfortability, whereas for Zildjians i had to test and test and test before i purchase wat i thought was comfortable.

Honestly I've never broken a pair of sticks. But I've mutilated plenty... I always change right at the point where they get too ugly for comfort. :D

I've been using my Zildjian sticks for around 3 months already and i kinda like it. Maybe I should get a pair of vaters and try it out. :D

ive switched to vater and vic firth, personally i think these two are good for rudiments. =). but i bought my vater just picking a few vater stick from the shelf.

gotta admit. Zildjian sticks are better then those JUST DRUMS or plastic stripe ones. better yet...the aluminium 1s!

nothing wrong in starting out with zildjian sticks...my first was Dennis Chambers! talk about luck...man hes great...

i love vic firth sticks. i just like the feeling of the wood. but i like pro-mark too as well.

as for zildjian sticks, they were my first pair, and will be the last ever pair of zildjian sticks i own (except for a few that were hand-me-downs). sad to say, zildjian just doesn't really have such a good reputation for their sticks.

i used to be big supporter of zildjian drumsticks ('97-'98 ) loved 'em 5Bs, when the stocks ran out I made do with 5As, or Super 5As with nylon tips.

Over time I noticed the QC going down, have been switching brands from time to time since, in 2002 I used Vater Fusions, but later find it a little too heavy for my liking.

My drumsticks keep going down in weight nowadays, and now I used Vic Firth AH8D and 8Ds.. I play almost everything on them, even heavy music... only when I reallly need power and mother-of-all-rimshots then I'll use Vic Firth Akira Jimbo sticks ... hehe!!!

Some of my other recent favourites include the Headhunters Maple sticks (surprisingly durable), Vic Firth Peter Erskine Ride Sticks (shoulder base feels heavy couple with small tip gives u power but a lighter tone)

Woah, those are REALLY light sticks... I can't play shit on those light sticks. i keep feeling that they're toothpicks. Sometimes they may even fly out of my hand because i don't grip my sticks very tightly.

The lightest I can go is Dave Weckl's evolutions. Anything lighter and I'll feel miserable.

hehe.... u know what, a good drummer friend of mine said the same thing .. 'toothpicks' !!! i keep my grip pretty loose... these sticks have helped clean up my grip and stroking for the past 6 months

VIC FIRTHs ROCK!!!!

I have drumstix obsession. i keep buying n buying n buying n buying...
but i use only the Vic Firth one.
Recently just got Zildjian 'Artist Series' CINDY BLACKMAN...
jus because she is a hot female drummer n her METALLIC MAGENTA signature grows on me.
Any cure for drunstix obsession?

yeah zildjian sticks are kinda not worth it. i think vater sticks are the most durable. vic firth is best imo. but it really boils down to playing style.

my personal opinion, there's only 3 companies that produce the best drumsticks, mallets etc.. Pro-Mark, Vater & Vic Firth, even and well-balanced from butt to tip... period..

i think nylon produces good cymbal sound and most importantly, it does not have dirt on it.

those using wood'll know what i mean, we need to constantly scrub off the dirt on the stick. with the dirt, it sound like a muted cymbal...

is it the stick?? or izzit me...lol

for pros i think the resonance is impotant for them i guess. diff sticks produce diff resonance, tts exactly why we have oak, meranti, plastic for drum materials.

rounded tips produce volume and pitch consistency.

hey, happy drumming!!

haha used to buy Colaiuta's artist series, until i saw Steve Gadd's one... hahaha Zildjian ex ah... hahaha... personally find that Zildjian don't have a lot of variety for non-artist sticks
