drumstick for the dumb

punkrock

hey im the dumb one here.

whats the difference between nylon and wood tip drumsticks ?

my music is hardrock.

the sound that you get from your drumset, nylon tips give a very nice ride cymbal sound. how ever the sound abit thin on snares.. for hard rock
i suggest, round tip wood. sounds fat..

8O power drummer. i didnt break any sticks b4 for like 2 yrs of drumming... lol... I'M WEAK!!!

i still havnt broken a stick...not that i want to...

PS: im no a hard hitter
*nudges vio*

nylon tips brighten your cymbal hits eg your riding.
but depending on your cymbal itself, some cymbals with nylon tips produce a nasty combination and give too much twang

round and diamond shaped tips - that's a different issue altogether.

I personally prefer nylon, it gives a clear sound.

I use it to play metal music.

For me, i bought the round-tip nylon, reason being, a round tip, no matter wich angle you hit the cymbal, the sound wun be that different....

Its up to you actually, just use watever sticks that makes u comfortable

I've been using wood but maybe I'll try nylon since they sound better on cymbals.

...

Probably still no use since my cymbals are crap anyway :?
I prefer wood because they seem to be better for rolling.

HAHAHAHAHA!! No lah.. never ultimate!!

Slacking have lah..

Btw, I'm using either a Vater's Smitty's Fusion or Pro-Mark Tony Vendarossa's sticks..

Good Grip.. Long lasting..

I've been using Pro-Mark and Vater consecutively for the different songs.

For Signature series, try getting Chad Smith's Funk Blaster or Virgil Donnati's Assault.

If U ARE A REALLY SKIN BASHER, check out Morgan Rose's Alien Freak. I can bet U the moment u show those Alien Freak to the studio owner, he/she will really freak out!! Its like a timbale stick but muck thicker.

Thanks!!!

Wiill check out thoes that you mentioned.....

Me also slacking...

now that exams r over, its time for me to stop procastinating :p

i thought it was the other way round, most drummers hate the sound that nylon tips give their cymbals. but it is personal preference though.

For small combo Jazz, its better to use light sticks with wooden tips. You wouldn't want to drown the pianist out.

However, for a big band, its better to use sticks with nylon tips. You want to be able to cut through the cacophony of all the horns.

hi there,

i PERSONALLY thinks that zildjian sticks sucks big time. no offence to loyal zildjian stick players. but i think they should stick to making cymbals.

i know what u mean. Most people hate them anyways. I know i'll be outcasted for even trying zildjian sticks....

anw...

point being i switched to vaters

PS: i still havnt broken a single stick.not even zildjian. maybe im a soft hitter. anyway why so brutal against Zildjian?bad experience?
