ahhh the joy when i saw this thread.........and it actually went into 5 pages so there are indeed fans here v good v good!!! but we neeed to see some local doom bands ppl, where are they??? Besides OID, of course, hehehe cmon surely he can't be the only one here???

I think that this thread needs to be resurrected.. Doom metal still needs more recognition!

i dont dig doom metal much.
Quite depressing genre.
No offence to all doom metal fans out there.
i still dont dig them no matter how hard i force myself to listen to them.

anyways, the last doom bands i've checkout on myspace were katatonia, swallow the sun, my dying bride and paradise lost.

latest Terrorizer 2008 top 40 list got quite some dooooom and related acts i.e. Esoteric, Asva, Earth, Moss, Torche.....yeah!!!!

Esoteric's The Manaical Vale album is serious psych power!!!

For a genre like doom, hard to think so... Most of today's music listeners would go for something which is much fast paced with crappy emotional lyrics... Hardly, honestly, a Singaporean would enjoy doom... at least only 10% of self-proclaimed metal listeners

Yeah agreed. I never really got into the whole doom metal scene and most of my music is heavy metal. Only doom bands i have in my ipod are catherdral and Swallow The sun. Anw Infernox death, can you recommend me some doom metal bands to listen?

If you enjoy STS, you'll consider Saturnus... Very similar....
