PS: - I really have to apologies to all of you here that I’m really unable to go down at the specific time (cause I’ve to settle my Drumming in HDB Issues 1st-have an appointment) – and if I can still come down after that – I will see you all there.

I don't know if this is the fastest way to get there, but it's how I get there.

Take MRT to Bugis, walk towards Sim Lim Square (on Rochor Road). After walking past Fu Lu Shou Complex, you'll be on Waterloo Street. Just turn left and walk straight all the way till you reach no. 54, which is YMS!

Actually, the fastest way is probably take cab. Haha. :p
 
You all must know hor - Alvin is my Sifu (Instructor), and he teaches me alot of things one....whatever I'm good at, my Sifu is even much better...hahahahaha !

PS: - and it's true - I would like to take this opportunity to say
"Thank You Very Much Alvin, for being a Wonderful Drumming Instructor, for going out of the box taking out your precious personal time to help me here, giving me extra hours freely in my lessons" and helping me, guilding me prepare my drummings throughout for the ongoing "Power Jam 2008 Competition" in our songs. We did the Original Song "Stay".

and We managed to get in to the Semi-Finals, and it's this Saturday at Timbre.

Partly luck, but most of all - Thanks to you Sifu...You are a great guy and this true - without your help, I wouldn't be there....Thanks again.

Just kidding! I have to agree Alvin is great, although I've only done 5 lessons with him so far. Haha. He makes drumming so fun and is so encouraging! ;)

You jialat lah, tell the whole world he gives you extra hours. Later all his students demand free hours how? lololol.

Grats again on entering semis. Will be there to cheer for you (and the other SOFTies)!
 
No..no the extra hours was because I was unable to nail the groove down that day (but you are all much brighter than me, so for you all no need extra hours lah) and because the competition date was indeed so near – that’s why he help me here or else I’m a gonna liao.

People ask me that day (you drum pretty well har), I think they made me happy lah, where are you playing lah, which club? “I say I play in Music Lab”…”Where is the club ?” “No, that’s my school where I learn drumming from lah”…so funny “How long you learning lah?” “ 10 months in Music lab only” …”wah so good liao har” “Of course lah – my Sifu is Alvin mah, you know who or not? The drummer for Olivier Ong lah”…wah I so proud of my Sifu…. Hehehehe.

so why would my Sifu give me Jialat Jialat here, I'm so proud of him. I think next lesson he will buy me a big lunch for all you know lah Kekekeke.

You learn for 10 months TOTAL or 10 months in music lab?? Very confusing leh. Can't be you only learn drums for 10 months right?

Anyway, if got free lunch please invite me along! I need to save money to pay for drums lessons and drums practice! Heehee. :p
 
omg. i just came from the clinic, and i was made speechless.

he's an inspiration, comedian and a damn enthusiastic musician/teacher. and it is worth every dollar of my 20 bucks.

his jokes on bass players, hilarious.

his point about music being an art, music being a language everyone anywhere knows and how our instruments are being used as our "voice" made tons of sense.

his drum solo is more than just a performance, it was an expression of his artform, or maybe to an extent some might say, his soul.

his theory of being compassionate to the audience and fellow musicians that's playing together, to feel what they are feeling and only then to flow together with them.

other inspirational points to note such as "a good musician borrows, but a great artiste STEALS (it's MINE)", take lessons (dom is 54 years old and he is still taking lessons from other drummers), learning and change does not depend on age (he changed to open handed style of playing at the age of 48, and he's been playing that for 6 years already. never too old to learn or change).





and the funny thing is, i don't even play drums! the words in this post are coming from a guitarist.
haha.. that's how great this man is. thanks for organising such a great clinic. =)
 
I was glad to be able to make it to Dom Famularo's clinic in the end. If not I'd be kicking myself for missing it.

The man is an inspiration for us all. Not just in drumming, but in life. One should always be open to learning new things. He is a living example of one is never too old to learn new things. :)

Anyhow, yesss it was a terrific experience. Worth every cent of the 20 bucks I paid. Mr Famularo's a real piece of work. 54 years young and still going strong. A through and through drum ambassador to the world.

Many thanks to Terry and the other people who made this clinic possible!

Now for Singapore DrumFest! Wooooo can't wait.
 
That was what i call a wholistic drum clinic. A balance of both the micro and the macro view. I can really identify with him in the ways he played the cymbals especially playing the cymbals on top of the other :)
