Does "Finger-less" glove REALLY work?

hey!

i'm just wondering, does finger-less glove really keeps yr fingers warm? i have seen live vids from bands performing. and i see that the guitarist are wearing finger-less glove as the place is cold, and they do not want their fingers to be "stiff".

is this true?

my fingers usually turn stiff if i play in a really cold room. and its really hard to play. i have a performance coming up and the place i'm performing is really cold(i've been to the place before)

i do not want my fingers to turn stiff in the middle when im playing.

so, does finger-less glove really works? the cotton kind.

if so, where can i get the cheapest glove? i have never seen one before in my life :p

Thanks!

but ltr it will have loose thread. like, those thread coming out

use a lighter to slightly burn the tip of the thread, don't make the whole cotton burn just let it burn until the end of the thread to "seal" them. this should help a bit. or else try to burn around the cut surface to let the thread won't some out..

Yeah the ligher works. I use it whenever i cut my belts.
Although that's leather, so...
Either that or use scotch tape. The swiss army knife of DIY.
Of course, it will feel itchy and scratchy...

I do believe that the glove would be too thin to keep you warm. In theory it should keep your hands warm but first off, such a thing might actually hinder your playing. Too thin it defeats it's purpose, too thick it would be a bigger problem. In cold countries, people might even have to wear a few layers just to keep themselves warm.

In such a case if you feel that the aircon is too cold, get someone to adjust the temperature. In Joe Satriani's case, he is just a victim of the media.

I tot i saw a vox amp behind him. prolly some 30 watt?

I never understood how people can wear gloves and play guitar....

latex surgical glove..

^ Do they provide good insulation? Plus if you have sweaty palms it feels a bit gross inside after a while.:)

This is one thing I don't get about S'pore... yes its hot here but you don't have to turn the air conditioning down so low until everybody has to wear jackets and stuff. I had a three hour exam in a hall sitting near one of the ac units (without jacket some more..). For the last 45 minutes my right hand was going numb already.

wah.. very prone to tearing man haha.

hehe, not only that, it will severely slow down playing, since theres much more friction for rubber surface on those wooden neck

Anyway, i was joking bout latex glove. If anyone really take it seriously, i can only say, remember to get ky as well, to reduce friction.

Hehehe, geetarers in here, bery serious...
