I came across the news article this morning and to my horror, the excuses this Mrs Koo had given me these past few months had also been given to other victims as well. Similar excuses include: sick with fever (#1), still sick (#2), father passed away (#3), need to do funeral rites (#4). Then she came for one lesson after excuse #4, and after that she postpone lesson again with further excuses: student staying in my area cancelled lesson (#5), got other lesson (#6). Ok so I asked to cancel the lessons since she keep postponing. Then she asked me if I can go to Esplanade to meet her for lessons on weekends because her schedule is very tight. By this time, I just wanted the refund and the saga unfolded.

In July this year, I have paid up $600 for lessons (in full) and similar to the others, she had postponed the lessons for excuses such as fever, father funeral etc etc (see above). After many SMS-es (she refuses to pick up my calls claiming her phone is faulty) she agreed to my request to cancel the lessons and refund me. Yes I have received partial refund but that alone took a lot of my time SMS-ing her and threatening her with legal action. To date, there's still $170 I haven't received from her since 12 Oct 09.

I hope the authorities will really do something about this case. For now, I am just keeping faith that I will get my remaining refund soon.

UPDATE: After repeated SMS-es, she has refunded me full amount. Hope the other victims get full refund from her soon.

i believe what jskadiang wanted to say, was, what has nationality got to do with cheating people.

anybody who wanna cheat, has the intention to cheat, can be from anywhere. The phrasing of the response("looking at her name i'm guessing she's from china ") is more to stereotyping that "from china, so more likely to cheat", which imho, aint exactly right..
