DIY Pedal Makers: Where Do You Get Your Parts ?

Started to make my first guitar pedal but cannot find a good place to get all my parts. I went to Sim Lim Tower for the electronics components shopping, can get the basic stuff like resistors and caps, but cant find anybody that sells stuff like audio log potentiometers and 3PDT footswitch, metal film resistors.

Also, I cannot find a place for enclosure for the pedal, but thats not electronics.

Where do you people get all your parts apart from going online ?

i dont't think sim lim tower sells the heavy duty 3pdt footswitches unless ur gonna use ur fingers to press activate the pedal then the cheap ones will prolly be ok.

Metal film resistors can be found easily at simlim tower. Look out for BLUE coloured resistors. Those are metal film.

Those pots that I'm using are from overseas and I buy them by bulk lah. Sorry can't reveal the prices. A char kway teow stall also won't tell you the price of his HUM. Hope you understand hor!

are you using it for your guitar? sorry this pot is not suitable guitar. The physical turning resistance is too high for an instrument pot but is good for the "damped" feel of an effects pot.

I buy almost everything online. Sim Lim Tower sells everything else. You can get plastic enclosures and 2PDTs from SLT but I haven't seen any footswitchable 3PDTs there. You can get the toggle switched 3PDT or 4PDT there though. Metal film is like ah seng said, it's the blue ones. BUT THEY GOT NO MOJO :!:

touched? it must be soaked in my pee for 6 days, 6 hours and 7 minutes cos the neighbour of the beast is eviller than the beast himself.

alternately to save time you can soak it for 69 minutes for that sexy 70's porn wah tone. this one only applicable for wah mods. Its good for inductors, tropical fish caps and even transistors. Even better, soak the whole wah.

Hey to the thread starter:

I think if you wana DIY your pedal its never gonna be cheaper than a Boss.
And you prob need to buy certain parts in bulk... So its pretty "bo hua" in more ways than one.

How about modding a pedal. That way you can still seek the tone you want.
As far as I know, people mod stuffs from Distortion to EQ to Delays to Chorus to Wah pedals. Almost everything you need for tonal manipulation alraedy.
