Hey guys i play more on punk rock or rock abit on the heavy side. I am on a low budget can anyone recommemd me a Good and reasonably cheap Distortion pedal??

With a budget of $100, I think you can get,

- Danelectro Cool Cat Distortion
- Danelectro Cool Cat Metal
- Ibanez SM7

try getting a really beat up ds-1 somewhere (will probably cost you about $50), and post your pics on the competition for the most beat up ds-1 (find it somewhere on soft) and win yourself a free mod by seekz!

+1 to the cool cat distortion. really sounds like a cranked marshall when used standalone. not forgetting to mention the danelectro cool cat series has really put a whole new spin on the definition of the term affordability.

For under $100 I'd get the Danelectro Cool Cat Distortion plus a Cool Cat Drive or Transparent Overdrive.
Cheap but cool sounding pedals.

Cool Cat Drive is in the same ballpark as the Fulltone OCD (considered a cheaper clone).

Cool Cat Transparent OD is in the same ballpark as the Timmy by Paul Cochrane.

Getting an OCD + Timmy clone under a hundred bucks for beginners is about the best thing to do! How I wish these pedals were around when I started playing the guitar!

Hm interesting :D

May get a cool cat to try.

Then again, with a budget of $100; can try a modded DS-1. Just top up 10-20 bucks depending on how much you can get a 2nd hand DS-1 for. :)

Its not really an outright clone...there are differences in both pedals and they sound different, imo. Just in the same ballpark schematic and layout wise.

I agree they sound different, but it's almost insignificant. Nothing a little tweaking can't substantiate. Well, at least in my ears, which is honestly pretty much busted
