Distortion Pedals that sound great !

I have been using the Fulltone GT-500 (the grey colored one) @18v.

I think it sounds awesome and has a great EQ to get diff tones.

I actually prefer using the amp's dirt and boosting with my trusty Ibanez TS-9 or Boss Super Overdrive, provided its a good amp, to get the best organic dirt tone.

But there are times where dirt pedals come in handy. These are some that i used before.
Blackstar Ht Dist : for mild to classic rock dirt. Has a tube-like characteristics
AMT R1 : supposedly a mesa in a box. has a clean and neat chug chug effect.
Vox Satchurator: thick and endless sustain with rich harmonics. great for leads.

I could be wrong. But a dist pedal running on 18v would sound fuller than a 9v. Built myself a openhaus clone and it sound great thru my monitors. Have not tried on a good amp with good headroom, but I would think it'll be a monster.

Nope. Just for my own use plus I find it interesting to build. The components used are quite hard to get and not that cheap, no wonder the original sho sexpensive. Of course can use alternatives but might sound different, In fact I'm not sure how close mine is compare to the real thing, but it certainly can growl!

Seldom do recording now in fact seldom touch my guitar nowadays. Too much of playing game. lol. Anyway I just run it thru an amp sim so maybe won't do justice. If I have the time and feel maybe I'll do 1 and post but no promises.
