which will b your take on a single pedal for TIGHT, crunchy, muddy distortion ?

BOSS mega distortion ? BOSS Metal Distortion ? TECH21 TR-AC ? MXR Crunchbox ? or any others ??

yep, for muddy distortion...cbox. If you're looking for clarity between notes but w distortion, u can try the tubezone, the blackstone OD, or even the Crowther Audio Hotcake (not the highest of gain pedals).

A lot of pedals, imo, can do tight chugging and cut through the mix, it's just what you stack em with. e.g. cbox + ts9 will prob cut thru better than just the cbox alone, and have nice fat sound cos of the mid hump.

i nv tried cbox b4, so i cant comment, however the only shortcoming is GT2 does not hv a mid tweak. so its uber thin...

I didn't find hte GT2 thin because...

Despite the lack of a mid control...

You can still have "boosted" mids - lower your treble & bass.

But then, I used the old GT2s...
