Distortion Pedal

Hey fellow softies.
I need some advice on which pedal to get.
I want the metallica/megadeth heavy metal /palm mute drive tone.
Heard that Wampler Plextortion does the job.
However, the price isn't within my budget.
Quote me distortion pedals and perhaps overdrives/tubescreamers that go well together.

Cheers :)

Then what is your budget?

You could specify your price range so that we can suggest something to you.

Digitech Hardwire TL-2 Metal Distortion. 218 at SweeLee. dunno if it is gna be included in the sale tho.

the Plextortion churns out a hard distortion type, no doubt, but it's not quite metal. some affordable metal-type distortion pedals to check out:

The Beta Aivin HM-200 is awesome. Haven't tried the other two that Sub listed, but I'd definitely recommend the Beta Aivin HM-200.

I would also recommend the Boss HM-2 or HM-3. They're difficult to find but you can occasionally find them in the Soft Buy/sell section for less than a hundred dollars.

the beta aivin HM-200 is very different from the metal zone imo. very well balance and versatile eq available. unlike the metal zone where even if u increase the mids, it will sound thin and fuzzy. the nature of the pedal i guess. the HM-200 is $55 with one (or two) weeks warranty and $85 for a year iirc.

the biyang metal end king sounds similar to the HM-200 only at double the price. not worth imo.

i currently pair my HM-200 with my biyang OD-7 for all out metal assault.

Agreed. The Beta Aivin HM-200 has a more natural sound than the MT-2, and sounds a lot better. The MT-2 sounds very weak and fizzy...

the Metal End King offers more distortion voicings & isn't singular like the HM-200, that's why i like it- a lot (not saying it's the best there is out there, if we keep thinking we've found the holy grail of metal pedals, then there a more appealing ones in time to come...) also, the amp simulator in there serves as a saturation enhancer, it's more functional for players who crank their amps' volume up; it's more evident in use this way.

from this thread, i believe u can tell different pedals appeal differently to everyone of us. so it's best u take a day off, take a walk near the city hall area and look for a good pedal that appeals to u.

agreed to different voicings available. however i find the difference only by a bit. not worth the double price imo. i'd stick to the hm-200.

side note: the volume jump between the bright setting and the rest is rather irritating.
