Dishonest Softie & Ibanez Tremolo Help!!!

Hey Guys!

recently, i got myself a Ibanez RG350EX from anthr softie.
but, i didnt know that he was sooo dishonest.

he told me that the guitar was in mint condish. no major prob wad so ever.
and im sooo st**id that i didnt check the guitar before leaving.

but when i reach home, too my surprise, the guitar was in horrible condition.
i say, 3/10???
action tooo low(almost every single fret buzz), SUPER dusty, no strings, etc.
its sooo obvious that he made it worse, i can see that he made scratches to it. the scratch is a O shape. its obvious that he did it. no normal scartches could be in a shape of a O.

anw,
its like, garbage to me.
so, i collected enough $$$ to send for repair.
i ask my cousin to help me send for setup.
so he went to Sound Alchemy for a setup.

a week later, he collected it.
when he brought it back, to my surprise, it looked brand new!
played perfectly.
untill, there is something disappointing,
my cousin said that the slot on the bridge to fit the tremolo bar, had somehow broke/crack.
so now, the tremolo bar is loose. if i turn the guitar upside down, the bar will fall out.

felt so sad.

the day before, i had bought EMG Hz's from anthr softie.
and today(Saturday), i went to Beez to install it. i ask Beez abt the trem.
Beez said that must change the whole tremolo if i want to use it perfectly.

i was like "oh, okay..."

now, i use scotch tape to tape the bar to the bridge, but, i cant move the bar around. and thats irritating. it keeps getting in my way.

so, i want to ask if anyone knows a way how to fix that slot. or, about how much i got to save up to get a new trem.

Please help me.

will appreciate it alot!

Thanks!

You just collected it without checking?! Well, look on the bright side, it could have been worse.. treat this as a lesson.

guitar

hmmm... yeah i agree.... it could have been worse, like just some heavy weights inside the case or sth... next time check lor... well once bitten twice shy i guess... as for your tremolo prob well, maybe u might wann achange the entire bridge part??? i dunno... i play bass so i dunno guitar that well...

i didnt buy it. i traded it. i was also in a hurry as he was late. i got to be at anthr place fast.

You didn't check before leaving with the guitar.
And did u actually bring this up to him after you discovered all the sh*t?
If u didn't, then no point whinning. If u did and he didn't show any compassion, then treat this as a lesson.

okay, i understand that i should check the guitar first.
i will treat this as a lesson.

but,
now, im stuck with this problem.

can help me out?

Thanks!

i wanted to, but, imagine you're the dishonest person.

if the person you just deal with, called you to meet back to switch guitar for an example, will you do it??? you will get the same sh**** guitar back.

and also, if he is alrd dishonest to tell a lie, he would not waste his time just to meet be back.

If i were u, I would just do it.. ask him.. after that if he declined to give 'after care customer service', at least I know i tried.
Anyway, I guess it's all too late for this now.

it might not be his fault for the fret buzz, naturally when strings are removed, your neck curvature will tend to correct itself even without the strings on so a backbow occurs, when you place strings on after its been in that state for awhile, obviously ur neck isnt going to allow you to fret notes without gettin your neck readjusted. (depends on Rod and previous string gauge)

guitar is dusty, just goes to show how long its been before the guitar was set up prior to string removal.

you should prolly swap out the entire trem block, or you should just use a layer or duct tape or sum shyt and go round once ur trem arma nd just shove that in the hole...

dork! wtf you traded a guitar without checkin? i seriously doubt your intelligence. no matter how rush you're, how long does it take to check out the guitar? less than 5 mins in my opinion. you shld at *LEAST* check for:
1] rusts at the pickup pole pieces
2] rusts at hardware
3] neck is okay (slight bowing is very accetable)
4] fret life (wear or dents)
5] you receive the accessories: whammy bar + allen wrenches + hardcase or softcase

and for those who are not rushin' for time, which i suggest many ppl to do is to plug it in and FEEL how it actually sounds. (well, that's the most impt factor isn't it?) whether it appeal to you or not, whether it is producin' the sound that it shld have. if it isn't don't buy or trade it. don't let GAS kill you (a problem which i admit that i'm facin' myself). but i must say, if you are goin to buy somethin' that you don't like, you are in a lost instead of a gain. its somethin' that i constantly remind myself of.

if you can hear the guitar bein' plugged in, make sure the electronics work well, give the knobs/ PU selector a go. twist the cable slightly when it is in the guitar jack to hear if there are any crackling/ poor contacts (sign of rusty innards)

lastly, dry fretboard is inevitable but make sure it's not scratched. and please people, do not be like this dimwit.

get some transparent nail polish, prob abt $1, slap some on the trem arm, wait abt half an hour, good to go, tight as a virgin lol

Can you enlightment why the guitar looked brand new after the setup? Did the scratches disappear? You mentioned dust. Its DUST, for ****'s sake. Can't you wipe them off?

Played perfectly after set up? Of course! Then what's a set up for? Even a tip top good guitar needs to be re-setup every few years for it to be in perfect playing condition. Wear and tear do happen you know?

No strings? Strings are $6. Maybe you could have nego $6 off. Did you? Unless the neck is warped, then it's ok.

About the trem bar dropping. Your guitar. Edge III trem? If so, do a "divebomb" there's a slot where you can put your smallest allen key in to tighten the hole. (do check the manual). Have you tried that? Or is it really broken?

u shud have bought my super modded slammer by hamer .... $200 only & everything really in superb condition

As to the bridge part - There shud be an allen key tightening slot inside the tremolo block - tihten to your own personal liking

You deserve it for not checking.

Gotoh trems are $120 from Davis and are a drop in fit for your RG350EX.
It's reasonably priced and is pretty good. You can bring it to me (upstairs top floor) or to beez to set it up. I don't trust Davis' guitar tech whose work made me learn to do this sort of shit myself.
