Hi all drummers, I will like to forewarn u all abt this private drum instructor who cheats my money.

The scenario is like this.... I paid him one mth drum tutition fees in advance (during the 1st lesson) for 4 lessons in total. He said that this is the norm for drumming lessons. Well, I trusted him and paid him $90 for 4 lessons.

This week is supposed to be our last lesson as he told me he can't teach anymore already as he is going to Canada. I sms me twice on Wed to ask him whther we can hv lesson on thurs or fri. He didnt reply me. I tried smsing him twice again on thurs but same result. I called him also didnt pick up the phone.

The point I wanted to highlight is that I am very disappointed by his undoing especially it is just only for $22.50 for one lesson. He could have told me that he is not willing to give the last lesson and refund me the balance. This proves he got no integrity and honesty.

This really pisses me off. Thats the reason why I wanted to share this story with u folks.

What are u guys thoughts abt this ? :?

certainly, what he did was abhorrent, but I wonder if there are any legal implications for putting his particulars up like that.

When it comes to money and stuff like his, I think you'd better report to the police . This can qualify as theft.

i had something like this happen to me twice b4 from Soft...i got this guy who asked me to pay up 80 bucks on the 1st lesson cus it was the usual thing to do..and i really wanted to learn back then...so i paid up...after the 1st lesson...he never contacted me again...i kept callin him over and over sent many smses but just no word from him...2nd instructor also the same thing...and i just gave up...and quit soft altogether...cus those to fellas really tarnished the good name u guys and James have built up...

all those out there lookin for a pvt teacher...i suggest u take this as a lesson...and um..maybe just pay up only AFTER 4 lessons or whatever the number is...dont be cheated...gets u really demoralized n made me give up my guitarin..now im back and self teaching

Firstly, this is your first post, or should I say rant.

So to make the claims that you are making, including putting his name, and particulars on public forum, is a very serious matter. So my suggestion is that you must be able to substantiate you claims. Or you could create problems (like slander) to the webmaster of this site.

You must stand by your claims, and put your own full name and contact number. So that you can be responsible for your claims, not the webmaster.

My thoughts is to keep some privacy, and sensitivity for the other users and providers of webspace.

Either case, I do sympathise with your case. My advise, just treat it as a personal lesson. If you really want to pursue the matter, you have to put in more time and money to get it processed.

cant remember their nicks..,happened like about near to 2 years or so.,..gotten over it....but yep..treated it as a personal lesson..

Sorry abt posting his name earlier. For those who is interested in knowing who he is and where he stays, u folks can pm me.

Sorry James once again.

Thanks for reminding me though.

hey there... well i sympathise with u as well.. but dude.. doing this is not right man.. i mean if he was really tht bad.. will he give u all the lessons tht he gave in the past? i mean maybe he has his reasons... try to look at a different perspective b4 judging.. there is always a different side in a story...

agreed, cus he gave u 3 lessons...but in my case after 1 and just disappearing is not a very nice thing to do..but i have faith that u guys in Soft will only bring good name and make James proud of us \m/ (PS give free publicity like me haha jk)

Hmm I guess it's pretty hard to trust people from the net that you meet for the first time. And yeah, glad you've put the past in the past and continued the passion for music once again, Dark_Knight! Nice seeing you yest too. Lol. It turned out that...I DID go for the SOFT meeting afterall. =x

you went? cool...hope u had fun...Mero & I wanted to come over...with me in the mask n costume..but was too late and tired...had to get the pix sent...but great...maybe the sept one ill come..if its after the 8th

Great. Maybe then, we could all go together. =) And drag bren along. Haha. and the whole NEWBIE band. That would be cute.

Okay sorry to owner of the thread. Going off topic! Hope all goes well, lemoncrust!

well....for $22.50 and get involved in a lawsuit is really not worth the time and money. just treat it as a lesson as well as for all of us to learn... so yeah..cheer up... continuing rocking

maybe you could suggest to your teacher paying after per lesson?
well, if he is serious about teaching, he wouldnt mind right?

thats me man..haha...wow joeys brother....its the subliminal verses mask i made...half is melodical...with smooth lines..to show the melody side of their new album..and the other half has the S symbol which represents the chaotic slipknot when they 1st came out and kicked our asses with their songs...then there are spikes in the centre to kinda divide the mask..haha...

offtopic: thats so cool.

anyway i WAS planning to get a drum/guitar teacher at first.....maybe not then

It's sad these things happen. Better find teachers who are credible - ie known in the circle of teachers. There are good ones out there - who loves to teach not for the sake of teaching but to actually build musicians.

I've heard of one drum instructor (not in S'pore) who actually took up a teenager boy who had pretty bad brain damage after a car accident leaving him slightly mentally disabled and having great difficulties coordinating his limbs. I heard the instructor was really patient with this guy. Anyhow, after one year, this teenager was actually playing drums! His hands coordination is pretty amazing. Needless to say, his parents were extremely grateful and happy. My friend actually sent his 6 year old son to this same drum instructor...
