difference on beaters

hey,
was wondering which beater produce what kind of sound.
i switched my dw beaters with the iron cobra ones..gives a much more clearer sound,IMO..

and yea, what is the difference between a felt beater and the rubber one?
i was thinking of getting the rubber ones but was afraid that
the bassdrum skin might break easily..
pls give me your advice.......
ahahahhahahahahaa

I'm using a DW beater too and I have made the switch from the Iron Cobra one. The reason it's not because it is clearer, but rather seems that the DW is designed to give u a fat, overall-full sounding tone. (Look at the DW beater shape)

Whereas, the Iron Cobra beater design is leaned more towards attack. (The beater design is more focused towards the centre than an all-around DW type of beater). You get a more powerful attack on the bass drum skin, and perhaps I figure thats why you're saying it sounds clearer than the fat but fuller tone of the DW?

Hope I helped. But I'm not very sure between felt and rubber beaters, perhaps someone else can shed light on this? :)

I'm using the rubber Iron Cobra beaters on my DW5002.

No, it doesn't damage the bass skin. But the rubber beaters are definitely heavier than felt. But no, they don't tear the bass skin or anything like that. They sound fuller than felt, and because of the weight, they're louder too.

Speaking of felt beaters, anyone interested in making a trade? =))) My rubber Iron Cobra beaters for your felt Iron Cobra beaters.
