hey guys im thinking of getting a zvex ff.. but what is the diff of a zvex vexter ff (silk-screened) and a zvex (hand-painted) ??

can someone help out ? thanks alot:p

that's what zachary says, but lots of ppl on the zvex forum and other guitar forums say there's a difference in the sound. and apparently the pedals are built in different places. dunno how true it is, and i've never been able to directly compare, but my vexter is great. :)

the place built in prolly doesnt make much different. The inside, the transistors or component values prolly make a bigger different.

Some older ones are build on perfboard and later on pcb. Theres some where the transistors also different type and such.

in all most would be rather consistant in the sound and build i supposed. Last thing a builder wanna is to push out same pedal that sounds different from each other and selling at those price

Either way - the FF would benefit from some mods. Too thin sounding for toneful use. Still nice for noise, different sounds, and crazy stuff I suppose.

the thin part i wud say it depends on the geetar and setting though. One of the useful sound which i gotten, i remember the need to turn down the volume knob just a wee bit and combined with the pedal setting to get a moderate fat sound. Heh, i have since forgotten that setting thou...

there are tons of settings on the forum though. some of them don't work very well, but i guess they're just for you to start out and tweak from. the thing that irks me is the comp and stab knobs. the squeals really hurt your ears if the volume's raised >_<

i remember theres a long list with more than 40plus settings which was circulating round forums when i bought one back in 2003, now could have even more more settings i guess.

heh, fuzzfactory be prolly too freaky for some if used to safe sound.

some japanese diyer did one off fuzz factory with similar art work, but calling it as f.uckfactory instead. Can be found on their yahoo auction at times..

Actually Pathein, I found the unit to cut bass regardless of what was done. And yes, the gtr volume control works wonders! That's the way to go with fuzz...

ah i see. cutting bass, that one i must agree with. But it didnt really bother me too much i guess.

hmmm, talk bout fuzz with volume. Heh, om rad bro edder new fuzz pedal(heh, not sure when he wanna push out regular line up, one i tried out was the 2nd proto type) can clean up really really well, i was pretty impressed with it when having the chance to try out sometime back. Althought it might not be over the top, heavy fuzz thingy, but it was tight crunchy one without the fizzy mushy radio hissy kinda characteristic. I think it might be really suitable toether with loud driven amp

Well, give the Skreddy Lunar Module and Screwdriver pedals a shot then. They can be tweaked to clean up easy and sound crunchy/od-ish/distortion-ish.
