Detroit Metal City

For music manga, read Beck which is miles better.
Minami Maho!!!

DMC is a good anime ... always laugh/cry  whenever watch the show but too bad it's too short compare to other anime (under 15 mins/epi) and only 12 epi.

Also I think the movie is Live Action and not in anime format .

heh, dmc is funny coz its making fun of certain group of music fans, musicians who are so serious about their music...

anyone who headbang to the music, movie, anime etc, is part of the joke as well...

Read the manga ages ago, quite a funny read.

There are other ones, like beck for example, more musical content.

however it is in japanese with chinese subs in dvd format.

THE ONLY DETROIT METAL CITY SHOWDOWN IN TOWN

The live-action feature adaptation of the popular manga Detroit Metal City will have
a “Detroit Metal City Showdown” (DMC 大派对) at The Heeren on 5pm, 14 th March
2009 (Saturday)!

This event kicks off with the “Trendy Mushroom Hairstyle Hunt” competition, inspired
by the main character’s signature mushroom hairstyle. The shortlisted finalists will
appear at this event to roleplay the Soichi Negishi character in a scene from the
movie. The winners stand to win prizes worth more than S$1,000 in total! People
who are interested to participate are encouraged to email their photographs (headonly
photographs will suffice) to contest@encorefilms.com by 8 th March 2009.

Following, there will be a sizzling live performance on Metal music. This is to feature
the other main character in the movie, the charismatic Johannes Krauser II who is
the lead singer of the metal band Detroit Metal City or DMC in short. Meza Virs, a
popular local metal band, has accepted our invitation to give this performance. They
have released their debut album “Vida Sacrificium Meum Est” in 2007 and received
overwhelmingly positive reviews both locally and internationally.

Detroit Metal City, more affectionately known to its manga and anime fans as DMC,
revolves around a conservative and pureminded boy (played by KenichiMatsuyama-DeathNote and L change the World) who leaves his countryside home to go to Tokyo with a dream of becoming a fancy pop singer. In a twist of fate, he is forced to debut as a member of the satanic Death Metal band "Detroit Metal City" (DMC), whose trademark is an eccentric makeup and destructive performance. Despite the intention of becoming a pop celebrity, he makes a triumphant debut as the Death Metal vocalist and the story hilariously describes the array of his woes until he finally faces off against the legendary and worldrenowned Death Metal vocalist "Jack IL Dark" (played by Gene Simmons, member of rock band KISS) on the stage!

Detroit Metal City, jointly distributed by Encore Films and Golden Village Pictures,
opens in cinemas islandwide on 19 th March 2009.

Meza Virs will be playing 3 tracks and a special surprise song with our new drummer, do come on down and check us out! we're baaaaaaaaaaaack! Mosh pits in heeren anyone? ;)

It looks like a next Dethklok to me. Not exactly a rip off, but well... what's with metal and cartoon these days...
They should make more epic biographies of bands, and turn it into a movie!

epic bio movie of metale bands, prolly only fans will pay to watch, while majority of the average joe on the street prolly dont understand, dont want to understand nor pay to watch i guess.

and since its the average joe on the street who make up a bigger portion of the box office revenue, perhaps theres not much people willing to do something like that, unless its some indie movie maker, making a pseudo docu film for film fest and not major theatre,

still DMC rocksss, the anime! Heh, too serious metaller no laughter metal fans better dont watch, we might be laughing at ourself without knowing it..

agrees...not suitable for serious hardcore metalheads...
it's just for laughter with typical japanese jokes...
overall i enjoyed it, especially the last part...haha...

i reckon the anime is still better coz of their 15min-non-stop-talking-no-breather-no-repeat episodes...lol....
