need some help here..
i need a delay pedal..my budget is around 200..
can i get a good analog delay with that 200 bucks?
any idea guys??
thanks.. :)

not analog but the Ibanez DE7 got convincing analogue sound, is cheap and readily available.

Cheapskates like me go with the ultra mid range lower ends... Johnson Delay/echo. It gets me where i need. no complains... But, got to have it trubypassed if not, i will have problems.

DE7 is nice............. warm to the core.
But i thought it was really overpowering. Oh well.

Another one is the Ibanez EM-5 Echomachine. I got that. Its highly raved and supposed to sound analog-ish, but what do I know? It sounds sweet, natural and warm, plus, the treble cut on repeats doesn't turn the sound to mud but its enough so that the repeats don't cut into your playing. (Note, some like delays to be heard) Not readily available, but not exp if you can find it.

There's the Johnson Delay pedal, can't rem the pedal's name, but it runs on an analog circuitry and costs 60 bucks. You can find it in Singapore but its sold out in most places so far... TheBlueArk has 1.

analog delays for Boss is out of the question. even I am seeking for one :? .

however if you were to consider the Boss digital delays, you can try looking for the DD-2 ( or Made in Japan DD-3s) . based on personal experience, they are way better than the current batch of Taiwan made DD-3s.

you can try DD-5 or DD-6 for more functions. I've never tried them so I cannot really give a recommendation :P .

anyway, those digital delays that I've mentioned above are less than $200. they are somewhere between $120 - $180 I suppose.

good luck :) .

For $200, you top up around $30 - $50, and wait in luther, one day you will find a dm-3.

I almost paid $230 for one at luther, but decided to use the money for something else as I already have a dm..

the boss DMs will not disappoint.

alternatively, iban ADs are not bad too.

I A/B a DM-2 and AD-9, the DM-2 gives you thicker delays.. must have something to do with the pana BBD inside.

(anyway if you have 2 x $200, can go buy maxon AD-9, chip inside are NOS BBDs)

If you play clean then an analog delay is much required to tame the repeat spikes thus giving natural repeats ....but if you are a dirt user then a digital delay will do fine just gom easy on the repeats.

Nowadays most digital delays have lots function including the simulated analog ... so you fellas are spoilt for choice.
Check this new one from Rocktron

Cyborg%20Delay-2006_LRG.jpg

and they also have a nice Short Timer

The question should be more like how many delay pedals i need ?? 8O
How can i learn to manupalate delays / repeats to create nice tunes ?? :D

wow nice. I've been looking high and low for a DM-2 ( those black labels that were made in 1981 ). not lucky enough though. btw just curious, do you know how a DM-2 compares to a DM-3? the prices of DM-2s are just crazy these days.

I dont know how a DM-2 compares to a -3. never tried a -3. but the -3 got stereo out, mayb thats some option for some players. Price wise, they should cost about the same. But believe me my fren - these things are way OVERPRICED. For the kind of price floating in ebay, you can buy newer stuff, all those featured in this thread. I wont pay 170 or 180usd for 20 years thrashed-up stuff. Who knows what the previous owners do with the trim pot?

$200 - like I say, pay i bit more, can buy AD-9. gOOD enough. I think AD-9 goes for about 130usd.

I guess the BBD's running on higher voltage brings out that much required clarity .... For those who have heard e DM300 at my place will know what i am talking about...

For DM2 is too dark so is it's cousin DM3....got no 'ping' in it.
But the ocsilation is mega cool on both :D

EM5 = The best cheap pedal delay ...can't beat that ...sadly no ocsilation tho since its a clever digital echo!! u lucky fella cow !!

maaan, I just want to get one for collection purposes. for the time being, my DD-2 serves me well. I'm just curious on how well it would work together with an analog delay.

AD-9 eh? thanks for the tip. hopefully I can find one around Singapore :).

DM-3 from ishibashi goes for 28,000JPY..that's for used ones...
arion also have analog delay..
anybody have tried one??
