I've noticed that under high gain settings, the above mentioned string have a pronounced vibrato effect especially with open strings chords(try hitting the open A5 powerchord and you'll get the idea). Anyone else experiencing this as well?

Have read this article here. It says that the Blue Steel has excessive oscillation with open notes with EMG pickups. I'm not using EMGs though.

I used em extensively...5..7.. ....12 years ago.. maybe more....d*&# i feel so old !!

Yes ...i noticed that ... used with my LP c/w stock pups.
At that time (no forums) people said i am imagining it....:???:

i've only used ernie ball strings for as long as i can remember. but i might give blue steel a try, since i using EMG pickups. sounds interesting...

haha, it will confirm give u the cannibal corpse type of picking thing i think.. the notes will come out super clear when u alternate pick..

davis should really bring in 10-52s blue steels..

I've been using blue steel 11s on emg's for quite some time now, and haven't really noticed such an effect, though I'm not much of a guitar player. I will check it out next time I re-string my guitar.

I'm using blue steels with Gibson Tommi Iommi pups, and they're high gain stuff. Oscillation becomes very evident when drop tuning, but when I play straight rock/lighter stuff, I'd reckon the oscillation isn't that noticeable to me.

I love the blue steels, they've got the tone, and they do last me quite some time.

I've tried other brands, but really, the blue steels still work the best for me. Moreover, the stickers are wayy cool!
