superbly well maintainede from people who respect their hard earned money to get their hard earned cymbals!! kudos mate:D

Thanks for the compliment. This is what is lacking in the local drumming community. Hope those young drummers will mature...

Yeap!! ur collection can only make me drool... hee.. Anyways, ya know where to get cheap 16" and 18" china's?? cheap with no care about their acoustic value since its gonna sound "plock" once muffled.. hee

Haha... the collection is about passion... about the china... let me contact the lion dance troupe supplier whether he has stock. The last time I heard that a pair of 16" china is $100. Have to buy in a pair...

yo man, excellent site thanks for recommending it!

but what im curious is how long it'll take for shipping, and how much we'll have to pay. they've got tons of interesting cymbals man... i saw mehmets and quite a lot of vintage zildjians at reasonable prices. but if the shipping's a killer, then really, no point getting there lor. :(

[edit]
sorry just checked it out. there's a 16" hhx stage crash for USD$132. plus shipping of USD$31.50.. that's around SGD$255. I think it comes to a square one sia.

Yo, welcome!

I think one way to make it more worthwhile is to find if there are any other brothers here who wanna buy stuff.

My guess is that an order of like 4-5 can probably be packed in one box, then shipping split for each can range from 10-15.

Just a guesstimate, best to check with the siteowner.

i've always had this thing about cymbals, if i dont try that cymbal personally, i wont buy it.

Good for ya.

That would be ideal. Some of us, don't mind compromising that preference to save a good couple of hard-earned bucks if a sale's worth it. If it doesn't work out, hey, there are plenty of other drummers it can go to, and you don't lose $$ in the process.

Even trying it personally in a shop technically isn't enough for me. I'd like to be able to bring it home and try it with the rest of my setup as well, playing one cymbal on it's own is hardly representative of how it'll work with the rest of the kit/cymbals. But which shop will let you do that?

Yeah, always wished they could have that policy. Like some adidas had this promo for some time, you could get a trial pair of running shoes for like 2 weeks. Cool stuff. Trial cymbals would be interesting. For security can put a deposit or something lah... Like a cymbal library!

The trial idea is good, but unfortunately I doubt it'll work in S'pore. Let's face it, we do have greedy/cheapskate Singaporeans who will take advantage (in a bad way) of such schemes. I've seen people reporting lost library books just so that they can keep the book and people spoiling books in stores on purpose to get discounts.

Yeah, that's why I thought maybe one way to protect store owners as well is to have the security deposit. Not like our public libraries, but commercial libraries.

Those shops where you pay the full price for a book, if you return after the loan period in good condition, you get refunded XX% of the amount you paid, if damaged or what, store has the right to either reduce the refund amt, or refuse refund altogether.

E.g, for a new cymbal 100% of the retail price. Let's say it costs $200, and charge maybe $10 for 2 weeks? For me at least, $5 a week is a reasonable amt to really try out a cymbal, which is like a long-term investment, and 2 weeks should just be enough.

Borrower #1 - $200
return after 2 weeks in similar condition
refund $190

Can add clauses like:
late return - $2 per day
scratch - $XX
ding/dent - $XX
crack - $XX
In the event of damage, Store has the right to determine whether if it will purchase the cymbal from the Borrower at a lower price or refuse refund, Borrower effectively purchasing the cymbal.

Something along those lines lah. A service is already being provided, the store definitely must be protected. I would think a nominal membership fee would be fair too.

Just a thought, can continue dreaming

Maybe its time for me to do cymbal rental business... the income generated will be used to buy more cymbals for rental... 8)
yeah man, but bro must keep in mind that you'll need all kinds of cymbals, and you must cater for all genres.

and also must cater for the fact that you might get back only half a cymbal. haha... of course they can pay u back, but the sentimental value of the cymbal is gone alr.

i'd rather go into the 2nd hand cymbal selling business with super good customer service!
