oh gosh.... i've never seen a 8 string bass before in my life... this is really an eye opener... :D

read the previous page bro... its an 8 string fanned fret guitar if i m not mistaken

Wow that's some really cool stuff. Extended range instruments certainly own. Btw, how do you contact them about stuff, and get quotations? It seems like their website is down or something, no real information about them. All this talk certainly has sparked some interest :D

it's a bass. who needs a 7 piece neck and uses an OBP-3 preamp for a guitar.

It's a guitar actually :) I just realised I didn't specifically state if this was a guitar or a bass  The specs can be a bit misleading

The neck is HUGE but surprisingly playable, and the fanned frets are very easy to get used to

Have you used fan fretted instruments before? I mean wont it be hard to get used to? cos the higher strings are on a shorter scale than the lower ones. so the way your fingers would have to stretch when playing "certain" songs will get hindered?

and i think you'll have to get used to like a totally new instrument man, the fret board will feel pretty foreign all over again, cos the place where say 23 fret on the B string is no longer where it used to be and you tried to fret the 22 or 21 fret out of habitual/instinct.

just a thought lah, so is the custom ready?
Tell us about your baby once you get it alright?

lol  it sure looks like a bass to me..think i miss out the word guitar even though i have read the previous posts..the bass word is imprinted in my brain :?

no wonder the strings look skinny to me

I already have the guitar with me. I'm wiring the electronics myself as I didn't want to wait. I was expecting to take a while to get orientated to the 8 strings and fanned frets myself, but it's surprisingly easy to get used to.
