custom guitar...

I'm thinking of getting a custom shop guitar made, though I'm not sure if it'll ruin the guitar's tonal characteristics...

Les Paul Jr. style with a neck joint designed for extra access (like the Washburn N series)
3 pickups, a dog eared Gibson P90 and 2 Suhr S90s.

Those are the parts I'm afraid of, cos it requires more of the wood be taken off the guitar. any suggestions or opinions?

I think it'll sound similar to what you want. Not quite the same, but similar. Go ahead. you might like it.

I'm thinking of ordering it from POT guitars (at guitar77) cos I like the sound of the PRS copy there (though I don't really like the pickups on it)

well not really it depends on whether you're making a project guitar with broken parts or making a blackmachine.

Won't that make it a 5way since its 3 pups? Wow I've never seen a 5way on a LP before man.....But I think it might just sound kickass

I got a question though, if you place the 3 soap bar pickups on the guitar like in the epiphone ace freshly les paul (though those are humbuckers), will it make a loud hum?
