Curt Mangan Strings @ Guitar77

my 1st set of CM lasted 15 days. did 5 day practice, 3 rock gig nites, travelled to KL for 1 show n back, another 4 day practice and 3 rock gig nites again. No major tuning problems last nite.

buddy of mine came over on wednesday and jammed my strat, 1st thing he asked after a few seconds, 'what strings are these?'.... Real good stuff, Kerr.

hmmm... wish my CM string review was up, but it's ok, thought i'd share it here first.

after the initial encounter with the CM set & reading the man's product philosophy, it's all about feel retention, wouldn't you agree?

I am a fan of daddarios too...readin the positive reviews here..think i goin down tmw to get one too :) btw are the CM strings kept in a sealed package like the daddarios?

paul: thanks for reading, sir! i have submitted some reviews, but we have to understand the mechanics of their appearance- it won't be immediate. i have no problems with that 8) if you make an in-store appearance in June, do let me know, i might have the spare time to drop by g77, then we can scrutinize some stuff, yes?

mobius: they are individually enveloped, not packed in a single plastic wrap like the D'Addarios.

fans of D'Addarios/ DR/ Ernie Ball: if you are a big fan of your favourite brand, the CM set aren't improvements of your current likings, please keep this in mind. CM strings are chellenging the afore-mentioned brand names in terms of feel, they won't last as long as you'd like them to, but they offer something different.

the fact that they are affordable is a bonus- i would've bought them if they cost a little more. hope Kerr doesn't see this as an opportunity to *ahem* you know what...

price rectification:

*GL's plugs: $8ea

yeah thats the price i recall... when u said $4 per plug, i was thinking maybe you got some extra special discount *wink wink nudge nudge*

Well I got 2 sets of the acoustics .12s, it's pretty nice but have to see how long it lasts. Keep it at 7.50 lar Kerr... then I'll ditch the Daddarios for CM! ;)

Pier.

Please bring in Pure Nickel 11-48.. i'll buy one box straightaway!

I installed Pure Nickel 10-46 on my PRS Custom 24, and Nickel Wound 11-48 on my PRS Hollowbody I, Hamer Newport and Explorer. They sound and feel great!

By the way.. whats the difference?

Nickel wound is brighter and more modern sounding, and are the most common kind of electric strings on the market.

Pure Nickel strings are warmer and more vintage sounding, and are the old school kinda string.
