Cracked Guitar Neck (In the Middle!!)

HI! Previously my guitar strap got detached and my e.guitar crashed to the floor, causing a severe crack on the guitar neck (right in the middle at the back). It is still playable but somehow I feel that the sound is distorted & the feel is definitely not right anymore. The crack is like the letter "n" covering the entire width of the back of the neck.

Can it be repaired? Or replaced? I really adore it a lot and wouldn't want it to stay cracked forever. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(
Any advise is greatly appreciated!

Sorry to hear about this, Its best you bring your guitar to the luther and have it checked. Becareful of the cracked neck, it might snap anytime and you might hurt yourself...

I think pictures of the crack would help alot. Usually neck breaks are at the headstock and I know those can usually be repaired, but in the middle... not sure I've seen one repaired.

Thanks for the reply! I assume "luther" is the guitar shop? :\ Do you have any idea how much a check/repair would cost? Many thanks again!

I will post the pictures as soon as I get home. Thanks for the reply!!

It depends if you can actually squeeze glue into the neck. It isn't really that hard to repair actually.
Prices should range from $80 to $120.
Usually, they will try and force open the crack to put glue in first.

I think it's a placebo effect that the sound is distorted. Only louder volumes can distort the sound of your guitar. Feel wise, you will probably need to refinish the guitar after it's repaired.

Not sure how much it costs but if the cost will be more than half the value of the guitar, you might just want to buy a new one.

Wowww. Okay seems reasonable but at the same time scary to force open the neck. I think my case would have to force it open. Thanks for the information!!

You might be in luck. looka more like lacquer crack than the wood crack. if its only lacquer, then u only need to repaint... which suck.

can you try to bend the neck a little?.see if u can see if its lacquer or wood crack?

to answer your earlier question, since its a set neck or neck thru, you probably cant change the neck.

Hmmmm from what I see I'm guessing it's a wood crack. And initially the crack wasn't so long, it sort of grew down the 'fret markings'.. :( :(

Here's a picture of the neck that I tried to bend.

That's good news! Thanks! I'll bring it to a guitar shop :) Any guitar shop can repair it for me right?

Ok. its down to the wood. bring it to either guitar connection at peninsula or guitar workshop at bras brasah. those are the only 2 I know that do this. if you want it repainted, it will cost u a lot more tho.

Send it to Malcolm to get it repaired. If it's a cheap guitar (with no sentimental value) then the most economical thing to do is to get a different guitar.

Unfortunately the guitar means a lot to me. :( I can't buy another exact model and still love it the same.
