Hi everyone- checking how many guitar players here own a bass/ basses. if so, which model? i've talked to many guitar nuts who own a bass, it seems that this pool of people are less particular about the bass they own, hmm... :smt104

many guitar players deem owning a bass necessary, especially when we have recording instances at our disposal. anyway, i find the bass rather inspirational at times, helps to lay down the song's foundation before further developments.

mine: Ibanez GAXB

Fender Jazz

tink most are less particular about the bass, cuz main instrument is guitar....& alrdy spent most of the cash on guitar stuff...(me)

Hmm i am a guitarist ...sorry to hijack..considering gettin a bass for recording ...My budget is less than $400...any recomendations? Btw can i record bass by pluggin it straight to a mixer? cos i dont consider gettin a bass amp...budget constrains... :)

1 morris vintage 4 strings ... only played it occasionally when required as backup ... ooh and while learning the songs

i've got an ibanez TR bass, oiled-finish, unknown dimarzio pickups. according to my bro, i should be shot for not changing the strings

it seems that this pool of people are less particular about the bass they own

i agree with stillborn's assesment, but probably also 'cause we concentrate more of our research on guitars and pedals?

p.s. i got a bass first on the misconception that it would be easier to play 4 strings.

i was once toying with the idea of getting a budget bass, for the fun of it

but then after more thought, i realised i probably wouldnt be using it very often, so i'd rather throw that 300-400 into another guitar or more guitar gear :D

now, running out of space for 4 guitars (and counting), the likelihood of investing in a bass (even a cheap one) is even lower

just my 2 cents on the topic, guess i'm not the only one who has had the same chain of thought

when it comes to bass, i'm less picky because many of them are good sounding & well playing, even the models at the lower rung of the offerings. maybe, guitar players have a different assessment for lower frequencies, since we are more accustomed to what the guitar has to offer tone-wise.

MTD Beast 4
Guess am still quite picky for bass as well. I play bass quite a lot and although not as often as guitar I would like to really improve on it. The bass that i have is a very bright bass great for slap n funk tone, v modern. Am saving up to get another bass for more rockish tone perhaps warwick n a good bass amp hehehe,...
