Does anyone have experience shipping a guitar from the states using Vpost USA? how much would the delivery roughly cost? Thanks!

Where you bought your fender from? I can't seem to get a US online store that accept my singapore credit card.

Np..but come to think of it, shipping + cost of guitar is really ex to me.

If ur bidding on a guitar on Ebay, best to ask the seller if he or she can provide u the dimensions/weight of the package. This will give u a rough estimate on the shipping from USA to back here.

And also,be sure to offer a bid that ur willing to pay along with the shipping costs :)

Good luck.

For ebay, sometimes they sell their guitars cheap but then they will mark up the shipping cost.

I got an uncle who went to US on a regular basis for work. Asked him to check out the guitars there. So what I did was ask him to purchase the guitars there for me and get the shop to ship to me via sea cargo. It's much cheaper than air tho, but only if it's a substantial quantity. For me i purchased 10 guitars so it's more economical by sea. If by air, each guitar shipping cost ard USD140 - USD160!

Actually its alright to be charged $140-$200usd for shipping a guitar to Singapore. Think about this: this is only $200-$300+ sgd, it will of course seems stupid if you are importing, say, a guitar that cost only $400-$700sgd.

I have been importing EBMM guitars averaging $2600-$3600sgd, the shipping-to-guitar price ratio is small. Furthermore, it will cost me $1500sgd for a return ticket to US if I want to hand-carry about 3 EBMMs back. So, for the price of $140-$200usd for shipping($200+$300sgd), I think its worth every cent of the shipping price tag.

The key to importing guitars - buy the ones that are rare in Singapore, or the brands that have dealers protection that restrict US delaer to ship there items out of their country. This will make your investment worthwhile and you will not be bothered by the shipping at all.

P.S: Shipping charge from US and UK are reasonable. Canada shipping are ridiculous, almost double that of US/UK.

This is what happened when you use vpost. Most US dealers dont allow you to pay with a credit card with billing address different from the delivery address - possibility of fraud. When you mention Singapore, they always thought its Indo or Malys. Unless you get Vpost conseiage to buy for you. Its gonna be expensive with their service charge. If you use wire transfer and dealer dont deliver, you lost money and there's no recourse, very troublesome. And dealers (non-ebay ones), usually dont accept paypal because of the fee. So the problem here is actually making a smooth payment to your dealer rather then a question of reasonable or unreasonable shipping quotes, since most shipping quotes from US are reasonable. You need a middleman overseas to smoothen out your transaction.

can you be the middle man for some smaller items that the seller doesn't want to ship out of US?

actually thinking of buying this
Soldano Hot Mod - eBay (item 260231118377 end time Apr-23-08 14:27:15 PDT)

i emailed the seller, but he wont ship internationally.

in addition to that, i tried another seller.
MetroAmp :: View topic - Soldano Hotmod's

which quoted me a huge amount for shipping.

"the UPS/insured shipping to you in Singapore would be $150.00 plus the Hotmod ($130.00) for a total cost of $280.00 US dollars. Thanks."

Bro, cant help you man. Sometimes they don want to ship bcos electronic component very hard to clear custom one. You import amp right? They let you do it because it looks and is an amp, cannot bluff. But all these tubes stuff, may not even board their plane bcos of products that may cause frequency interference. The second seller deliberately quote you high shipping to discourage you from buying. $150usd shipping for small things like that?? Bloody hell my THD 8ohm hotplate only cost $40usd to ship to SG. Sorry I dont dare to help bcos later you pay me money already, and middleman at US got problem ship back here, then I kena sai... Yah, dont try vpost for this one too. They may reject this and return to seller, bcos they also dont dare to bring the thing onto the plane. And you also don know if seller would refund you if item return to him. (vpost once told me they dont dare to offend the custom there. really, I spoken to the manager here. But in the end I get the thing I wanted bcos got maverick seller ga ga deliver items to me thru their local post, usps, and manage to escape checking. you have to nego with the private seller.)

Shipping to sg is pretty ex in general. I had to pay like $110 for the cheapest method of shipping my ESP back from Canada last year and it took one month + I had to go to the customs building halfway across the city and pay import duties and all that crap. It's a pain in the ass.

I dunno how I'm going to bring my amp back because it's bloody heavy.

Haha. Bcos the policy maker not guitar players like us mah.. Hey, come to think of it, one small tube exchange for all the lifes on a plane => satan got a real good bargain hor?

Dont lah, dont take risk. Go buy one Mesa or H&K or Koch preamp pedal, up the gain of your amp better.
