Conning in soft

juz like to sae

Lamborgh, it was a sweet thought though, to help those who you feel are getting conned. The approach to handling the matter may be wrong, seeing how sensitive it is to some but I think it's a nice of you to even admit this and openly ask for opinions on the matter... Most guys here got too much ego for that yknow :P

I also kena conned before. And against everyone elses' argument, it's not cos I didn't do background checks on the prices, but because the softie took advantage of the fact that I was (then) a newbie. When I found out, he said he "forgot" to tell me the "details". Food for thought, guys. I stopped buying after that because I didn't know who to trust anymore.

So disappointed with the integrity of some people here. Giving the honest sellers a bad name. I hope other noobies won't kena the same thing.

If there's a willing seller and a willing buyer...end of story. Why must people get so caught up in how much the seller makes/loses. Do you question shops like Cash Convertor how much they make for your purchased items? I guess it's the typical kiasuism - "I don't want to lose out to others".

As for buyers, if they don't do their own research, it's their own fault. Finding out how much a new item costs in the market isn't so difficult. Lazy? Too bad.

But the last thing we need is kaypohs who go round policing the forum on "correct pricing". Firstly, it will spoil the seller's thread. A spoilt thread is irreversible and the chances of sale is more or less gone. Secondly, people will doubt the seller's integrity and hence damage his reputation. If this is real business where reputation is money, chances the seller will sue that kaypoh's ass off! Lastly, what if the kaypoh got his "correct pricing" wrong? Will he just crawl away leaving the mess behind?

The only time we interfere in a thread is when it involves REAL con job or cheating. Eg. selling fake stuff but claiming to be real, selling damaged goods and not telling buyers about it, selling used items but claiming to be brand new, etc. In another words, there's an intention to deceive or mislead others.

My 2 sens

about razorash.. the seller did say he bought it in a sweelee sales and said it had no bond with it.so i assume if its bought in a sweelee sale with the hardcasing then i would have cost less than 750.

to me i feel its like morality thing here. I think help people out there and besides there are many new softies around here.

But when will the swee lee sale come again? Will the buyers be able to get around that price again? It's a simple case of supply and demand.

I think it is very likely that we are undermining people's sale thread. In a great number of guitar forums - commenting on prices will get a person suspended. Do it once more and you're banned.

sweelee sale with hardcasing for less than 750 is a bit hard to believe. if its 750 or around there, its still believable. dont forget, the seller does NOT have to make a loss for it to be a good deal. so lets say even if the seller sells it at 800-850 with the hardcase, its still a good deal for the buyer right? he does have a right to go up to 1k.

especially for the lp ultra, there's 2 different version. there's one with the nano mag pickup and one without. i believe the seller is selling one WITH the nano mag pickup, so 1k is actually quite reasonable.

let all buyers and nay sayers note this:

reasonable does not equal cheap.

it doesn't matter if i spent $10 or $10,000 on a guitar last year,

if it's worth $1000 these days, then I'm going to have difficulty selling it at $1200 and it's going to sell easily at $800.

you're right in going there and letting other pple know whether prices are jack or bubbles..

the way these pple tok like as though its reely ok for them to fork out extra cash, purchasing something when in actual fact, they've been ripped off..

im glad u're posting your bit..

good on you..

sad to see that the "not my problem" attitude is not only thriving but justified by so many :(

thread-starter, my respect to you. just remember to adjust your approach.

Actually I think the focal point of the problem doesn't lie in the fact that one party's indignant about the supposedly high price that the other party's charging, but probably due to the fact that one party feels indignant that the seller MIGHT be able to make a profit out of his sale.

perhaps he sold something off at a lower value, thus the indignation.

At the same time, there's this element of punishment, and sadism in us, where we enjoy (to differing extents) watching others suffer - in this case, having no buyers or bids for his item. Thus the public accusation of overpricing.

My stand on this is very simple - the onus to ensure that the deal is legit is borne entirely by the buyer. In a simple analogy, do you do your research when you purchase 1st hand items? Do you hunt around for a cheaper deal, or to check the average price?

The seller's duty includes listing accurately (to the best of his abilities) the physical and cosmetic condition of the item being sold, the retail price if possible, and his selling price. The seller shouldn't have to lower his price to match any discounts or membership prices, because those are privileges offered by various stores to ensure a constant flow of customers.

I've had a certain someone question my posts in the drums buy/sell section, mostly with regards to alleged ambiguity in my listings where I claimed that my items were "10/10 cosmetically", but owned them for 3 months. As for pricing wise, I've not received any negative comments yet, but I've had my fair share of lowballers who give unjustifiable reasons as to why I should lower my price by almost 50% just to cater to their wants and needs.

conning in soft...

really kids? conning? all you little kids with expensive toys & expansive knowhows BUT without extensive & effective technique about every guitar or bass under the sun................conning....

maybe this whole soft forum is one big con....

aquanaut sounds like he has mastered every single guitar, bass and mandolin technique known to humankind. He makes Joe Satriani, Matt Garrison, Paul Gilbert and Victor Wooten look like chumps. aquanaut uses .013 gauge strings for warm-ups, and then some. aquanaut for President!

He sounds so bitter.. haha. Anyway my take is it's ok to pm the seller to tell him it's freaking overpriced but you should not post on his thread stating that you can get his good somewhere else for xx price. Not nice. If a buyer does not do his research before buying second hand stuff, it's his fault. He will learn sooner or later.
