I totally dig your Carlos Santana blog. Many of the younger generation of players these days don't realise what magic this man created. i didn't either, at first. Then I tried recording my own version of Europa, and I discovered how good this man's touch was. that feel he had, the ability to play over the same boring structure time and time again, and keep on making it interesting. it was a revelation.
At that point I began listening more intentily to his playing, and I realised one thing. Listening to him is one thing. you learn a LOT more when you try to learn what he's playing, and doing it yourself. Samba Pa Ti still eludes me...
