was viewing and listening to a couple of product demos and the keely katana clean boost really caught my attention, but seems like its abit pricey. any other similar alternatives with the same function but cheaper?

in that case, you are after something with decent transparency. a cheaper alternative here is Rocktron's Nitro (by no means a poor man's alternative):

The catalinbread super chili picoso gives a transparent boost with slight gain on tap. Works very well if that's what you're lookin for. Even acts as a buffer.
