u guys really serious abt holding a christian gig?we can do a FOP like gg...like 20+ guitarists and a full band(saxes and stuff)...damn impressive man..rock the place down..of cos its not us tht should be in the limelight..we all do it for a common purpose:to worship God..WOOHOO!

Well.....this thread reminds me of one incident....oikkee~first of all,me myself is a jehovah witness.(christian) but i hate to say this but most of the church bands are reallli pompous......for example,the amk medoist church and some others.... I won't make claims if they aren't true in the first place...but unfortunately ,i am not alone in this mindset. Many of my frens think soo too......if u guys ever go to the church one day,go check out their behaviour and expression....you will know... But of course,i may be wrong,more than 10 people may be wrong....that's why u have to check it out yrself......^^ Once,i decided to test the medoist church too see how they treat unknown kids...(i always do lame thingees!hahaa!) i dress up as a realli young kiddo,hair messed up,wearing clothes that was worn when i was reallll young...oike~next! then they have finished jamming in the hall and started to pack up ,i approached to take a pic of the drumsets,then they mocked at me and my fren saying sth abt privacy rights(wad the crap!)
then from that moment,i tend to look at the bands' behaviour regardless of which church i visit.....it always makes me soooOOO disgusted....(especially city harvest....) remember there's a band there in the past......nw is it still there?AHHHH!FORGET IT! >_< >_< >_< >_<

um...kindly pardon my ignorance, but isnt jehova witness banned or something? :? anyway, there are always things that i disagree with too...whether with city harvest, or any methodist church, as u mentioned. But i think my God is wise, patient, and kind. He will not spew an attack on any practices he deems not right, neither will he force anyone to believe him, he is a gentleman.

Unfortunaterly man... what you experience is a very real thing. Where christians sometimes are not welcoming outsiders. We are too stuck in our comfort zones..
Personally i sugest, perhaps u can stop experimenting already. You have enough experience to go tell your friends about it.. and remind them not to do what people have done to you. This will help so much more.

hmmm..heard bout jehovah witness..i think its banned in singapore cos it is against ya religion not to handle any weapons rite?man..u all r damn too peace-loving man! 8) i mean NS is compulsory in singapore n every NS dude need to handle some kinda weapon somehow so i think thats y they banned it ah? sorry ah to brood over this thing cos i m curious..

haha, thats what i heard too actually. but i dunno for sure lah... :?
btw..i've been wondering about this for a long time, i've seen so many bands who actually 'jam' at the church's premises, and yeah, my band does so too, but for church/other events only. Otherwise, we'll go to a jamming studio instead.

kk,since u are interested in knowing,i shall tell ya the reason then.....actually the reason is simply becasue we follow god's words no matter wad,we try our veri best to mould our lives to be lyk god,cos it's his intention and the minimum requirement of a true christian. as ppl know,god does not wanna killings and stuff,he want us to love each other....ever heard of a phrase "if somebody slaps yr face,turn over the other cheek?" or sth lyk tat~hahaa! now i ask u christians(males especially),wad's the main purpose of Ns,it's to fight wars right? and wars always involves killlings....it's called killing yr own brother cos no matter which country the enemy is from,he is still a brother.....hahaa!if u didn go ns,the most u can get is 3 yrs of jail and then u are free,fyi,do ya guys know that only our bros can handle knifes and sharp objects for cooking purposes?and they are held in high respect....yupo! and i'm not sure whether MJ is one of jehovah witness or sth.....beats me? >_<spink_grrl101 said:

no. thats not why jehovah's witnesses were banned. its because their doctrine states that as a JW, u cannot bow down to any other form of power, king or whatever excpet for Jesus. so takin that "rule", JWs are not allowed to salute any flag including the flag of their own country, because by doing so, it means that u are pledgin ur allegience wit that country or organisation and not to God. basically, JWs took the first commandment of the law n twisted it around. n that law is 'Thou shally not bow down to any other gods or idols except the Lord your God.' thats why S'pore banned JW because of hmm, national security..? yeap. this, "rule", is kinda off track bascially because in the New Testament, Jesus already said, 'Give to ceasar what belongs to ceasar, and give to God, what belongs to God." in what Jesus said, Ceasar is refered to any form of world government because during Jesus time, ceasar represented the govenment.

hey man, on behalf of all Methodists out there I'm saying sorry that you had to have a bad experience. I don't think we'd yell at you about privacy rights in my church or some other churches I know... and yeah I agree with you it's pretty :roll: to stop people taking photos of drums.
also I think in NS those who say they're JW (or is it 7th day Adventist?) don't carry arms... mostly given clerical duties if I remember correctly.

hey, u might be only hearing one side of the story only. yokocha says he/she is only taking photos but he/she might have done other things during tht time & we dnt know bout it cause we aren't present tht time
anyway, for those 7th day adventist, they r send str to DB for their NS but they r treated much better at there compared to the prisoners there

i have a classmate who's a JW and she says tht Jesus did not die on a cross but rather on a stake...they don't celebrate festivals like christmas and easter...she caused alot of problems during our CME project on religion and all of us ended with detention....they have their own version of bible called the JW bible published by watchtower something..i was readning a book on cults the other day and it is stated tht JW are onsidered a cult worldwide
