Hei Guys.. I need help.. I had a hard time choosing between these two amps.. The Selection is either a Vox Pathfinder 15R or a Marshall MG-15 MicroStack II.. So how?? I need a amp which is louder and bigger than a 10Watt amp.. The clean and the overdrive(Built-In) must be good also.. My previous amp is a Samick 10Watt amp..

The amp must be versatile bcos I played music from rock to metal to punk to pop.. I have a budget around $400.. I heard many people recommend the Roland Micro Cube.. But that budget is around $500 which is over my budget.. I will getting the amp around this month.. So please guys.. help me lar..  :D :D

Budget 400? I'd say don't take either of those.

Take your pick between these two instead :

1) Vox Valvetronix 30W (around 300+? I remember it being 375 or somewhere around there)

2) Roland Cube 30 ($299 at Swee Lee)

Does the Valvetronix is better than the Pathfinder Series in terms of sound and durability?? I heard that it has built-In effects right??

I reccomend the LINE 6 !!

or the Tech21, since you want something versatile and they both sound good as hell, compare to the marshal.

and since your budget is 400 to 500, its not a prob. Tech 21 is the best thoug

I found Line 6 quite a hit-or-miss affair, because some people like the hi-gain it has but others found it very digital sounding. Best bet would be to go down and try out all the amps that fall within your budget until you find something that appeals to you :D

Of all the amps, I`ve owned and played thru since I started playing guitar abt 7 yrs ago, my current amp, a Vox AD30VT amp, is the best value-for-money, it was like it was the amp that I had finally settled upon after all these years. It has awesome cleans, my fav being the tweed and the vox ac30 setting is good for overdriven tones, not too muddy...as for the built in fx, I found the flanger, rotatory and chorus fx to be cool. I didnt like the delay setting, maybe its becos I`m used to my Digitech delay pedal..hehe...as for the OD/high gain sounds, I cant comment much on it for now cos I dun have a humbucker guitar but with my fender strat, I can get acceptable deep purple tones...just gotta tweek the knobs ---> very important!!!!

I`m sure it`ll handle humbuckers well. The ad30vt is selling for $335 at City Music..: )

Hmm, I doubt so. I`m also quite new to tube amp also..hehe...b4 I bought it, I tried the Line 6 spider2, vox pathfinder 15W b4 finally settling into this. The ad30vt is not 100% tube, mind u...its a hybrid..mix of solid state and tube..it has a 12AX7 tube in it...thus, it does give a tube sound...I`ll try my best to answer ur queries if u still have more..: )

Well, the ad30vt has obviously a wide variety of amp models and effects. Like I said I love the clean tones on this amp. The pathfinder 15R was also good, its not tat bad actually but I just found the ad30vt to be WAY better..: ) plus the pathfinder doesnt have a middle knob but the ad30vt amp does! What kinda guitar u using presently?

turn both treble and bass down u get more mid. turn bass and treble up you get mid scoop...... no need mid knob also can :p

Right now I'm using a Samick Sg.. A cheap guitar actually.. Thinking of upgrading the guitar also.. :D

Ah ic..let me tell u sumthing, when my Fender Strat was in the repair shops, I plugged in my cheap TGM Strat copy into the ad30vt and wow it sounds superb I tell u! It sounded really good! In the 1st place I was actually thinking of changing the pickups in my fender but after playin thru the ad30vt, I think the pickups are staying where they are! : )

Its best to bring ur guitar to the shops and try them out...and remember to tweak and max the vol and gain to hear the true potentials of the amp..: ) gd luck..

i have a vox pathfinder 15. trust me vox's cleans and dirty are really sweet sounding. i have tried the marshall mg series it is quite.. not worth the money. get the ad30vt. i wanna get one too. pathfinder was great this is even better :D

For a 30 watt amp.. Is it loud??

With a budget of $400 for a modelling amp, it's quite enough to shop around. From what you mentioned, you need a palette of tones. My recommendations will be same as mero...either the AD30VT or Cube30. Bear in mind that if you need high gain, you can't really find it in the Valvetronix series....overdrive is where it really shines for the Vox, YMMV.

Give yourself 2 weeks to a month, try all the amps in your list till you reach a decision.

If you have distortion/overdrive pedals I reccomend the pathfinder more. Frankly speaking I was very enthusiastic when the AD30VT was brought in, but was very dissapointed when I tried it out. The Roland Cubes as well. Somehow they just don't sound warm enough to me. They have good reviews from a couple of people I respect though, so maybe it's just me.

I shopped around for a long time for a practice amp and finally found an out of production Trace Elliot Brat (luther's site quotes the pathfinder as a similar sounding amp. I still prefer the Brat though. I have 2 now)

The pathfinder does the warm thing very well too, as long as you don't push the gain too much. Use a pedal if you want crunch or distortion instead.

For a home practice amp it's definetely more than loud enough. In a jam room too. It won't be loud enough for a 200+ sized audience though, I've tried.
