Choosing between Vox And Marshall Amp..

i own a Vox ad30vt and to add on to several others who have posted on this thread, i think its a fantastic amp for its price.

In regards to hi-gain, I run my ts9dx and a OD-3 thru the Mesa Recto modeller and i get a very nice hi-gain warm sweet sound from it.

The on-board effects are also much more extensive than the Cube30 so if you tweak enough, you can achieve much more tone shaping functions and greater variety of sounds.

Hope that helps

400$? u can get way better amps than those ones man. Once again i repeat what has been said before, the AD30VT or if ur ok with tube emulation, get the peavey envoy110. they said that the peavey transtrube series is the best tube emulation around.

i have a vox pathfinder 15. trust me vox's cleans and dirty are really sweet sounding. i have tried the marshall mg series it is quite.. not worth the money. get the ad30vt. i wanna get one too. pathfinder was great this is even better :D

For a 30 watt amp.. Is it loud??

It is loud, but it has a power damper where u can choose between 0 to 30 watts. So if its too loud just turn down the power. :)

Sorry but have you even tried the Peavy in the first place?

i bloody agree... DO NOT GET THE ENVOY110... yes, its one of the best tube emu but i still regretted buying it...

they new ones made in china (starting from year 2000 i think) really lack bass... i got the same comment from luther too... now i'm stuck with this $400 piece of crap-but-not-so-crap amp, i don't think i can even sell it for half the price to buy a pathfinder...

get Vox for home practise... both amps are good, the path finder and the valvetronix... in terms of loudness both should be around the same... i think they're actually louder then my 40watts envoy110 piece of crapojunk...

in the end its back to the question whether u want tube or not... maybe try the tube valvetronix for a change? :?

oh yes, u can tweek the vt amp from 0 to 30 watts for the volume but remember, even if its tempting to leave ur drive to max, don't over do it cuz ur tubes will wear out faster...

Ya the transtube series the cleans always sound very sharp to me.. but sounds good if all you want are aggressive sounds... I always put the treble to 3 on the transtube. If you have 400 bucks, you might want to check out a bigger vox with a 12" speaker... I had the ad30vt once and I think the sound doesn't project well, like if you're standing while playing, it seems like cannot hear the amp so well... cube 30 good for cleans and high gain.. distortions sound digital if you want overdrive. Valvetronix better distortions in my opinion, 'cept for high gain.

The valvetronix amps are not true tube amps, the 12AX tube dun wear faster cuz u cranked it, the tube last a lot longer than you think. Easily 3 to 4 years. Even with real tube amps with you playing at max vol and all almost everyday can still last for a year or 2.

they last so long even when driven at such taxing rate? 8O didn't know that...

btw, the valetonix aren't true tube amps ah? they're solid state meh? i always thought they were tubes...

The valvetronix amps are hybrids, half SS, half tube...

they are a hybrid amp. What Marshall did is that they use a single 12AX tube in the preamp and a solid state power amp section. Vox on the other hand used the tube in the power amp section, they came up with this circuitry to sort of use the tube as the power section, the tube runs at a very low wattage tts why it last damn long. im not sure how it works there are articles on the web on the valvetronix design. But as i said they last very long.

What you heard abt tubes not lasting longer when you crank the amp is for real tube amps. All the modeling in the world cant beat the real thing. Go play a real tube amp, you'll know what i mean.

Chill guys. :)

ah... using the tube in the post amp... hey wait... doesn't that defeat the purpose of tube colouring the sound?

i've heard people say that as long as theres a tube in the circuit the sound signals will be coloured by them no matter where they are...

but with the tube in post amp... thats running on low wattage... hmm not very sure bout this area here... only doing secondary physics...

maybe its a trade-off on power for duribility...

haha since you live in yishun too come over to my place to try pathfinder then go MadWereWolfBoy's house try peavey envoy110. anyway MadWereWolfBoy DID YOU GET MY PM?????

Hei guys.. Thanks for your info.. I'm not sure whether to buy Valvetronix or Pathfinder Series.. But hey.. I'ill find out soon.. :D

Roland Cube 30

i suggest roland cube 30, i'm using it its very good, its only 299 at sweelee but i think its sold out.. i'm not sure though

Hei guys.. Thanks for everything.. Finally decide to buy..

Marshall Mini Stack II.. And IT ROX Ah!!!!! Marshall Rulz!!!!!!!

a damn gd place. city music. usually the amps 400++ but now cos of sale its going at 290. dun miss this chance. even as a fully tubed amp user ill recommend this hybrid amp. beats the rest of the amps i tried out there. if gain isnt enough like the usual complaints den just get a simple booster pedal like a ds1 or something. :D

I just bought the VOX AD30VT last week from city music.
Very good amp imo for home practice, use tube and getting warm tone. Price now is 290$, but if you can bargain like mad, maybe you can get the VOX VFS-2 foot switch for 20-30$... Instead, I get a free cable...
