Checking prices and availability of stuff in Music Plaza

Yeah, they don't send to singapore either. We gotta use either vpost/comgateway if we get stuff from them.

If there are no companies in M'sia providing that service, maybe you can hook up with one of the softies, send here then you cross the Causeway and collect. Haha, that's one desperate solution.

Comgateway only does Singapore and Hongkong at the moment I believe.
It's much better than vpost. Works out cheaper if your item is over 2kg (actual or volumetric).

actually they DID stock the musashi...i guess it suddenly became a hot item and went poof...haha

:)

These are really nice alternative options but what i'm worried is that when
the cymbal comes, it might not be the particular cymbal i'm looking for lol..
i took almost 1hr ++ at music plaza just to select my K custom ride n A custom crash....tho the quality control may/might be there for such a big name in Zildjian, but still cymbals differ from sound to sound. Its a risk haha but no choice also...still gotta take it rather den waiting for another 4-5 mths for a crash to come in...thanks for the links man.

Kari, u can address it our office in Singapore, I go there MWF for a project.... I can pick up for you, drop it of at JB on saturday.... You have to give me drum lessons though... hehehe

Oh yeah wiremesh, I remember seeing you posting the 22" K Custom Ride up for sale? Didn't move? Or you changed your mind?

I've a 20" A Custom Ride, lemme know if you wanna do a temp swap.

That means we swap for a period we both agree on (1 month?) then swap back, no strings attached, or commitment.

That way, we both get to experience something different without spending any money, and without fear of regrets. Of course, we must trust that we are both not hard-bashers.

Maybe I'll start another thread on cymbal swapping.

I gave up on the K hihats after hearing it may take 6months, didnt really look into the Cie vintage hats either. The bosphorus Traditional Light hats serves me well now.

haha ya.. all music shops are like tt.. our market is way too small.. not too advisable for them to bring in so much.. haha.. lucky the only thing i may eye for in mp is the akira jimbo snare. hahaha

Yeah, since they give our market, and us, so little respect, we send our business elsewhere

I think you might be better off with the Bos hats, my friend had a pair of K.cie vintage hats which I had on a swap for awhile, wasn't particularly impressed by them.

:)

Hey as to ur post above i changed my mind haha i can't bear to sell this baby...as for cymbal swapping lol :) Its a good idea...been wanting to try the A custom ride for awhile now but i heard its really washy when struck repeatedly....some roar comes out lol... :) But i won't be able to swap for at least 2 mths got a gig coming up...and i need the ride at the moment...
:) I'll pm you dude!
By the way i play funk, fusion and a lil rock...
how bout u?

Yeah, we'll KIV that plan, no worries, I'm in no hurry either. Just a thought.
Glad you know you changed your mind in time, before your baby was with someone else!

Me, I'm playing in a church setting most of the time (so you know by default that means I'm not a hard hitter ).

Btw, (in case you're not aware) most church music falls into pop-rock, funk, Rnb, sometimes alt-rock. Also working on my jazz/bossa/samba chops on the side. I do like metal and hard rock too, but that's more for the guitarist side of me.

Yeah, drop us a note on the gig thread lah, when your gig draws near, would be cool to listen to your setup in the context of a band. It is pretty interesting, 13" hats and a 22" ride.

:)

The gig is a very small time gig for the youths in Soka i heard...
I'm a not a member tho...i used to play in church too for bour 6 yrs?
N yes ur totally right most church music fall into pop rock lol :)
heh 13" hats 22" ride and a 16" crash...hehe
nice meeting u anyway :)

I'm josh btw haha.

lol many josh's in this forum. another one is me.

anyway, did u guys know theres a music shop in the east, beena rd for quite some time alr,

they have some A customs i saw the other day. vic firth signatures and also a dennis chambers. hoo!

though its mostly filled with guitar pedals.

Ah, in Tampines? I had a poly classmate who plays in the soka band.. Kuibao. Not sure if you know him. Cool man, nice to meet ya too.

Yeah, true, Gambatak/josh, there are some small indie shops which order in some small batches of stuff.

:)

Cool i never knew bout the shop,i might go down n have a look one day and nice to meet u Josh! haha...another cymbal brand i was thinking of trying out was the Istanbul - sold in Nigel's shop...tried em out the other day..they sound really warm....and nice.....but too bad for me lol i have weird habit...urmz if my cymbals r zildjian den all must be zildjian haha weird eh?

urgh i'm stressing...trying to keep up a tempo at 170bpm...when actually the vocals sing at 150? The bassist keeps urging me to up the tempo but somehow it feels really really rushed, guitarist say its fine at the tempo i'm playing at arnd 160. I dunno is it me who has to work harder on my speed or the bassist is rushing things...im bringing a metronome to the jam tom...we'll see how it goes....oh ya do add me on MSN if u wish
wiremesh21@hotmail.com same email goes for moi friendster

nice meeting all of u.. :) or u both haha

*Drum on!*

nice to know we're referred to as an indie shop.

i've got a mini drum section in a shop filled with guitar effects.

currently, i've got a whole set of A Customs, 14" hh, 14" crash, 16" crash, 20" ride and a Zildjian gig bag going for only $1200.

I think that's a pretty fair price. not too sure though cos we sourced these cymbals direct from the States.

one thing that's for sure - our vic firth sticks are cheap. come check it out.

regards,

david

wow... this thread sure grew damn fast...

oh ya weckl, u mentioned that working as a waiter could earn u 12 usd per hour...

i watched the show where a guy leave everything behind and worked on low wages and it seems he's earning that kinda money but after cutting taxes he's down to very little cash per hour.. yeah it's a sad fact of america...

not so much of an american dream eyy!

and yeah got to agree with u guys lah, them yamaha MP have really really limited stock or no stock on lotsa items...

and also weckl, u mentioned about this andy dude who runs the massmusic website, yeah he haven't replied to my queries which i i sent him like before the O levels last year hahaha.>!

Depends lah, which tax bracket you're in, for students it's not that much.

Serious? Did you email him? I think he gets a lot of queries, some might get lost in the flood, you might wanna try dropping him a PM on the Pearl Drummers' Forum, he drops by once in awhile to answer questions and stuff.

lol, never been to that forum b4... haha...

now im thinking of making that stave shell snare after u posted how to make it...

haha wished i had the equpts..

Yeah, tempting right... And I noticed Ranking sells some lazer hardware like lugs, strainers and stuff, not as high-end lah, but decent.

I know how Mr Marc, during your holidays, you go look for a furniture shop to do internship. Heheh, that should kickstart your career as Singapore's first custom drum-maker.
