Check Out This recording done on my new rig

maybe a bit more scoop, the tone might be more authentic. but nonetheless the playing is quite accurate. Pretty nice recording actually.

Is it miked up or DIed ?
 
Its played using an esplh2 with an emg81 in bridge position through a marshall jmp1 preamp direct out to an m audio delta 44 soundcard. Just got everything set up today so did a recording and was fairly please with the mix
 
i agree with seekz. I think it needs to be scooped a bit more. hehe. but overall i think it was nice. thick distortion.
 
Wow, I really like the EMG 81 tone. I never think it would be that close.

On the playing: its smooth and decent. I thought you were playing a little faster than the timing actually. Or maybe its just my ears. It is , however, consistent. And you did skip a few riff slides eh?
 
Vespa : The mids are at set at -5 and the lowest is -6! Both the treble and bass are also set at 5 for both. I dont think it can be scooped much further :) I never thought marshalls could do such distortion. Was looking at buying a tri axis at first but it costs like 3x more than mine so it was pretty much out of the question


Heh the playing leaves much to be desired but its really tiring down picking everything! Especially when you do more than 1 take on it.

the tone i think its ok.But i feel that its a bit loose.
i prefer more punch to it, since ur using a preamp and an emg 81.
Slight EQ might do the trick.

u palm mute on that take?My advise is try to relax, i think ur tense when doing that recording.

BTW, how much u bought the jm1 preamp?
im thinking of getting a rocktron..

Hello! yea ure right im kinda tense. Its not easy playing at that kind of speed and down picking all the way! Not at my level at least. If i relax ill tend to drop the pick! But ill work on it thanks for the comments

I got it for 1300. Took 4 months to arrive after i ordered it. I was deciding between this and the rocktron voodu valve. I think the rocktron is more suited for metal. Do let me know if you get it! Would love to hear how it sounds!

This is a pretty decent recording! Good mixing, nice guitar tone. Even though the scooped mids will be make the recording sound more authentic, I prefer lots of mids! :) So I think its fine... :)

One thing, before the piece started, there was some buzz... i think its from the amp... you might want to check that out... getting rid of such things can make a recording sound much more pro...

shredcow : yeah the buzz at the start was due to feedback! i shifted back about 2 metres the moment i clicked record hence a little buzz :)

anyway..some comments... i think you using too much gain... you are downpicking well dude.. - doing hetfield proud - now the other part is SINGING while you play that!!!
