Cheapest Looper Pedal

Looking for a looper pedal so that i can play with my own backing tracks. I am currently looking to buy the Boss RC-2 online but it is rather expensive. Any other cheaper pedals out there and how are these pedals diff from one another? Sorry i am new towards these types of pedals. Thanks

for a dedicated looper, rc 2 is prolly one of the cheapest looper pedal around with the kind of features it has.

There are also delay pedals out there with looping function, but the features and looping time is way less then rc-2.

If really wanna a good looping pedal to start with, the rc is actually quite a good choice.

If just wanna a simple looper, then get those delay pedals which has looping function. But the prices still wont be cheaper and can be either the same as rc 2 or much more.

For the differences, perhaps you can list the info which you dont understand and see if we can help. Hehe, you be prolly more confused and totally overwhelmed by what we say if we dont know whats the thing you are not familiar with.

Muza FD90 has a 12 second looper -- might be the longest on a cheap delay pedal. And it also has wonderful delay and reverb modes. However, so far a few units I have tried have been slightly noisy. So it's up to you to if that's acceptable if you're only using it for home use or practice. http://muzasound.com/guitareffects_fd90.html Muza pedals available at Zen Guitarwerkz (near SV at Peninsula).

The other good looper in a delay pedal is Hardwire DL-8. 20 second looper. Can order from Proguitarshop.com or Musiciansfriend.com, cheaper than a certain shop here. But DL-8 is almost as much as an RC-2 online already.

If you are going to spend on a proper looper, consider the new Vox Dynamic Looper VDL1. In my opinion it's a game changer for the compact looper market with some advanced features not found even in the midrange loopers (Boss RC-20/30, Digitech JamMan Stereo). Vox available at City Music http://citymusic.com.sg/webshaper/store/viewProd.asp?pkProductItem=637

Thanks for the response. I think i am getting the RC-2. Mainly because it has a built in drum machine and its compact. I am thinking of getting one off ebay secondhand. It would cost lesser than proguitarshop.com. Is it advisable to get it from there?

Any looper pedal that cN PLAY MY OWN BACKING TRACKS AND ALSO PLAY SOME DOWNLOADED BACKING TRACKS FROM THE NET??

OR MAYBE A MULTI EFX THAT CAN DO THIS??
PLS RECOMMEND ME:)

Ebay there is no way to tell. The system itself is safe but it is individual sellers after all. Check the seller's ratings and make your own judgement.

Are you looking more for playing fixed backing tracks / drum machine or for recording layers of guitar loops?

isuxs, Boss RC-2 can record from audio input like MP3 player or your computer headphone out, but cannot transfer MP3 files directly. New RC-3 and RC-30 can connect USB and transfer .wav files. Same for Digitech Jamman, the mid/high range one can load files

No i wanna play to my own backing tracks. I feel i that i can understand how chords work better like this. And i can imagine this pedal being LOADS of fun to play with :D

If you ONLY want to play with backing tracks, you really DO NOT need a RC-2. The RC-2 lets you do a lot more than play backing tracks -- you can record, layer, and loop guitar (or any other input) in real time. You're better off just running your MP3 player into your amp, or just playing with the backing tracks on your computer. Or use something like the Korg Pandora Mini combined with your MP3 player if your amp does not have an aux line in http://www.korg.com/pandoramini

Digitech GNX3 and GNX4 can do that
sometime available used here for quite reasonable price.

Yeep, can be done you did not try the Jamman function on the GNX4? the multitrack can be set to loop over n over
just that you have to get the length of the first track correct as that is the loop length.

here's something from youtube to start you off

but you should read the manual to maximise your GNX4

Ok so i just ordered the Boss RC-2 online. I am wondering, do i connect it to the pedal and then to my amp? I do not have any pedal before the looper, is that right?

the looper can be anywhere you want to put in the effect chain.

the looper is to record sound that goes into the input, so whatever effect pedal you have and wanna loop, will have to be connected before it.

I plug my guitar into the looper and then to my solid state amp. Its the amp which gives the sound. Does it mean that i am looping a sound sample, when i change the channel on the amp (from like distortion to clean) the looped sound will also change? Hope i make sense

the amp is just amplifying the sound of the geetar and effect pedals(if any)

if you are using the amp distortion and wanna loop it, then you can put the looper in the effect loop of the amp, provided the amp has effect loop.

if amp dont have effect loop and can only connect the looper straight to the amp input, you cant loop the amp overdrive/distortion.

and if you put the looper in the effect loop of the amp, even though you can loop the amp overdrive/distortion, it will also add distortion to whatever sound you have already pre looped

this thread below has more info on it

www.jsguitarforum.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-91612.html

if you wanna loop and overdub the amp overdrive/distortion, effect pedals and clean geetar signal, the scope be outta what the looper can do, it will involve microphone, midi foot pedal and into recording area liao
