Cheap2 Paiste twenty ride! Lelong price..

Browsing along cymbalholics, i stumbled upon a thread which a fellow holic pointed out that there was a price discrepancy with guitar center's paiste 20" light ride...

so the price was slashed to 64% from original price and is being sold online at 167 usd which translates to about 239 sgd...

Initially, musiciansfriends and music 123 portray the same pricing but it had corrected it about few days or so later with this...

The fellow holics had to wait pretty long before their pies arrive and there seems to be a few common things with this "offer".

1) a few of this pies we're bent a bit majority we're pretty satisfied with the deal.

2) there's some black stain marks on the twenty ride.

3) 1 of them was pretty much a reject (those plongy heavy didn't turn out to be a good cymbal - wonder how i'd pass paiste's stringent QC)

4) Two holics ordered this pie and BOTH OF THEM received an AAX Metal ride. LOL.

for some, it was a good deal considering they saved 64% but for some the deal wasn't so good... fortunately, Guitar Center did exchange their either out of form pies or shitty pies with another one of their satisfaction...

so why the cheap price??? there's many who said that it's a price glitch... the merchants music123 and musicianfriends have updated their prices back to the original 280usd but GC still honors the 168usd price....

Or could be some conspiracy with paiste????

idk.. do give ur comments and thoughts on this...

and eric, u do have this ride amirite??? do give a write-up when ur free.

ps: anyone who has relatives in america do pm me! im quite keen in getting it.. (:

It really depends on the what kind of black stains are on the Twenty ride. You get do get black stains on hand hammered cymbals.

Eric has the regular Twenty ride with the raw unfinished bell, I think.

Why the cheap price? No point asking. All you'll get are wild guesses and theories. If you really want to know, you should email Paiste straight.

lol.. thought i'd post it up here to get some comments lah on the cheap price...

oh wells... eh u got cousin at emerica rite?? haha

yeah i do. but considering i didn't even want to bother her about getting the 13" New Signature Dark Energy Mark I hats for me (which was going for USD202+, still is), i dont think it'll be nice to bother her to get something for you.

sorry. if you want it, there's always vpost. if you really want it, that is. that's how those of us on soft buy things from overseas.

and i thought you wanted to get a new crash? change of heart?

yeah but u know the packing.. lol...

ancient tape, brown smashed paper and cardboard box... wonder how it'll go through shipment with vpost considering many of my friends worked at baggage handling and seen 1st hand when i was working at the airfreight center in changi.. hahaha

let alone in america! yeah so thats why bringing in very fragile things like cymbals from overseas is abit of a risky business eh.. but i see u bought a few pies from overseas right??

glad it made it here in one piece.. hahha!

not really change of heart... heard it's a good crash/ride... the hhrbdr doesnt really have that give and wash.. really sounds like dingggg when crashed... thus its called dry.. and purdy heavy too..

so maybe with this other ride can have two rides plus one that's light enough to ride and crash.

You can consider the hybrid 20" too, its been a blast playing around with it! It has a very nice bell and a warm, sweet crash ! Alfe can vouch for it!

Anyway back to the matter, yea like jeepers said, never know what the hell is going on unless you ask, and still you might not get the answer.

But one thing for sure, the twenty ride is something special. Nice tones for riding and really crashable. I'm getting one for sure, when the cash is enough.

wow... incredible steal.

one thing for sure though, choice of a ride is a very personal thing.

i was trying alvin's new pies and i just can't get into the really dry thing. gadd's ride is another, so bright! he sounds so perfect when he plays it though

i really like the smoky ks of old and the k darks. and of course the hybrid which i can't get enough of.

if somebody gets a hold of these paistes, pls bring for review at next xchange leh...

I'm not really digging the sounds of the Twenty Light. If not I'd have prolly have pull the trigger on it, I reckon.

The NS DE Mark I hats still interest me a wee bit though.

But I would like to get hold of a vintage Paiste/Zildjian for now.

Marc: Yeah I've heard terrible terrible stories about vPost. Baggage handling is quite similar around the world. With the number of baggage compared to the number of manpower, it's no wonder they've to work like that.

And nope, I've only bought one pair of hats off the net till date. Once I've decided what I really want then I'll go into the market again. Right now, I'm thinking snares.

I share a vpost acount with a couple of friends, and 20+ packages later, we still have not had to deal with any casualties... yet. *fingers crossed* So... I can't vouch that they won't ever screw up, but they've been okay for us so far :)

I would have liked to try that GC deal too, but it's a little risky with vpost because if they send the wrong cymbal, vpost guys won't check that for ya.

yeah... jialat man if they send in that AAX metal ride...4kg summore...

but if they send a paiste DE ride or something.. haha I'LL GLADLY accept it!

I ordered cymbals from this American company, Saluda... it came in very good condition. It was just in a cardboard box, "wrapped" with a lot of crumpled paper, and a "fragile" sign on it. The guy has been sending out cymbals for quite long, so I think this method should be quite fine...

ouh cool... saluda's giving away some cymbals on their forum and pdf!!

my post is just below jeepers! heh wonder if we're the lucky ones to win a pie from them.

Hahaha you'll have to be really lucky xD I've been joining every lucky draw but never get anything. I just ordered a crash, waiting for it to come. That time I ordered hihats, quite happy with it I guess.
