Can't playback recorded MIDI files on Cubase AI 4

It's me once again and this time my patience is really running low.

I can't seem to hear any playback from my recorded MIDI files. All those MIDI files which I've recorded previously can't seem to have any playback. There are MIDI bars on tracks which indicate that sound was produced but I can't seem to get any playback signals from the mixer.

The weird thing is that whatever MIDI tracks I record now, there is playback. I just recorded a trumpet track and could hear the playback. Only those MIDI tracks which I've recorded 3 days ago can't have any playback. No playback signals in the mixer whatsoever. This problem started 3 days ago and it still persist.

At first I thought my windows was corrupted and so I went to reformat my DAW. After reformatting it, the problem still persist - no playback.

Am I really missing out on something?

you're missing out on what MIDI actually is..

MIDI is just data. when you input the MIDI file into the DAW (Cubase) you still have to assign a VST instrument or a General MIDI to it before the data is actually useful. did you do that? MIDI isn't sound. is just made up of numbers..

if theres a freeze synth function within the daw, can try to use that and see if its able to create an audio file from the midi notes thats playing the garritan. With cakewalk sonar which iam using, the freeze synth function will create audio file from the midi notes running any vsti iam using. This is prolly not a correct solution, but if just wanna hear if theres any playback via audio file and at same time, letting cpu taking breather within the session if theres other vsti running.

another way to check is perhaps creating another midi track running garritan. Copy the midi notes from previous track with no playback, into the newly created midi track(with garritan) and see if theres any response or getting the same problem.
