I've been playing guitar for 5years but after so long I still can't find the tone I want...I've been selling amps a d pedals over n over again and now Ive narrowed down to 2 choicesMarshall mg15r and orange crush 15I want a amp crisp tube like cleans and also dark sounding cleans like from the mesasI'll will be getting either a wampler plexitortion or super plexitortion...Please enlighten me... Thanks

First step you might want to consider in getting a 'better' tone: Get an actual tube amp!

a good one to be specific. imagine the TS heading down to Swee Lee to buy an Ibanez Valbee thinking it's the cheapest answer to end his worries.

solid state amps are good too. I for one love the Yamaha DG-60 that has been the main testing amplifier at Guitar Connection for the longest time. let us know your budget. I can tell by the amps that you've listed that your budget isn't very high but thing is, you have to save up for something good. I did try a Marshall VS8080 at a studio once and it was good. Like really good. Decent cleans and with 2 different channels of drive, I was spoilt for choice. I don't think solid state amps would go above the $800 unless its a legendary Roland JC-120.

I don't think there are amps that offer the best of both worlds. However what I can suggest is, get a clean amp, dirty pedals and of course maybe an a/b box if u want sparkling cleans after a brutal death metal like assault. Let us know the outcome.

Go big. Set aside a budget of at LEAST $1k. No offense but the tone of a 15W solid state and those puny speakers are quite horrid. And frankly after playing for 5 years, limiting yourself to that only is quite astounding.

Go try out good solid state amps, like the higher wattages VOX VT, Randall RG and Roland Cube. Do yourself a favor and try out 12" speakers at least.
If you want tube, try out AC15Custom, Night Train 15W, Laney VC30 (2nd hand) or if you're into the Fender camp, get a Blues Jr.

saw someone say this before "practice gets rid of tone problems"
money also can

But anyway, 15w amp will always be within a certain limitation. I rather have a nice big clean solid state and good pedals, instead of trying to find a small tube amp with 2/3 channels that fit your taste exactly.

Where's the like button when you need one. With that price range, there are generally 3 different setups you can go for:
1)Good clean tube/SS amp, fueled by your distortion/drive pedals. With this set up, your board will generally be larger than if you opt for option 2, which is:
2)Multi Channel amp with decent clean and distortion channels, with this your board shouldn't be too big, mods, delays, verbs should be running thru the efx loop of your amp. Maybe a tubescreamer for lead boosts

And finally, lets all not forget option 3:
3)Good amp modelling pedals eg. Axe fx, Line 6 HD series, through good/decent studio monitors

These are just mere suggestions and general ideas you can work with. Any others that I left out?

i would go for amp modelling pedals. only after i've spent so much money on single pedals did i realise how important a cab is. hahaha.

im using a line 6 spider IV 30 and it has 1x12 celestions but ill think that maybe selling it off and get a single channel amp with decent clean and the wampler super plexitortion or plexitortion to craft my tone

If you dare to take the risk, might want to consider getting clones of these pedals. I have order quite a number of clones from tongski_02's and they're pretty damn good. They do wampler clones also, so might want to consider that
