Can You Shred With A LP?

dude,strats are versatile,Malmsteen uses them :P

but yeah LP,just watch Zakk Wylde and Buckethead, damn shredders they are...but if u can shred,i guess u can do it on any guitar..just a matter of comfort i guess

thats different, i mentioned VINTAGE strat to save my ass. malmsteen had his frets scalloped to aid him to play faster, that guitar's MEANT to shred ain't it?

if I m not wrong, having the neck scalloped only helps with having a real light touch. And it does not removed the 7.25 radius as the frets still sits on this setting.

But in general, yes, flatter fretboard helps you to play faster esp with hammer ons and pulls off esp if you are not blessed with long fingers. I m sure SRV, Hendrix could have played on a 5" radius and they wldnt have felt too much difference.

hmmm scalloped guitar really makes you play faster? that's something new to me.

Yeap... you can shred on any guitar.

But of course, for optimal performance, we have flatter radius, lower action, etc etc etc...

Its like you don't take a family car for a grand prix no? And you don't take a race car out for a leisurely spin.

Different applications.

I daresay, the vintage guitars, 7.5 radius and what not, they aren't shred friendly, but you can shred on them. Just that, you could do better with gear optimised for shredding.

it's about adapting... because Billy Sheehan can even shred with his bass.

urmm i thought scalloped frets just helps u touch lighter on the strings and u dun need to make a real bend to make a bent sound? i'm not sure, someone fill me in please...
