Busking can be a good source of income?

Hi all! I've been busking (street performance) for few months now. Although i busk less often nowadays as i'm currently also teaching in a guitar studio, but i still consider myself an experienced busker.
On a good day, i collect more than $150 in less than 6 hours of playing.
There are bad days of course. But if you play for at least 6 hours, you should be able to earn $100.
Here are some good tips for you:
1. Get a busker license from NAC (you never know when you'll need it)
2. Sound system. Good amplification won't cost much. Get one battery opperated or rechargeable. can get it as low as $150. You can earn it back in first two days.
3. Location. You will crack our brain on where to go at first but neighbourhood MRT can be much better than orchard rd (earnings)
4. Practise sufficiently. Play good music.
5. Simple and nice repertoire will do. You can prepare a few very techniquely demanding pieces as your show piece but people dun want to know how good you are. They give you money because you play something they like.
6. Dress simple but presentable. You look weird to play on the streets with shirt and tie. And dun dress like a begger because you are not.
7. Mental preparation. Be prepared to be treated like a begger. Some authorites will chase you away if you are having your performances in places not specified by National Arts Council.

really good intro of busking.

but can i ask something?

when you say if its on a good day, you can collect $150 while playing 6 hrs. but is the $150 in coins??

because if i pass by a busker, i only see people give coins.

$150 in coins!!! ROFL.

I want to do it but I'm simply not good enough. S$150 in coins is fine with me. You can dump all of them into the DBS machine and draw it out into notes. HEHE. :)

i thought got fee one?
like they'll take 5 bucks for every 100bucks in coins?

lol they do, service charge. its everywhere dude!

You're telling me that a kid, let's say 7 years old, been saving for ages and now the banks want to take 5 dollars away just for letting him use a machine? How come ATMs don't work that way then, I'm really just curious.

DCK : actually these days I've seen 7 year old kids holding blackberries and iphones. they don't need to "save" .... and i'm using my wife's k850i until it blows up then I'll reuse my old k800i...

the "coins > notes" conversion is due to some kinda "service". like a tips thing for the banktellers I guess.
so the fast way is to go to hawker centre or mcdonalds change with them.
