Building the Best E-drum Combi

What is the best Combi in terms of the realistic touch of the drums and the articulations, like choking, rim shot etc. The individual pads must be able to be used on another e-drum set. I don't use the sound module as I have my own soft synths for drums.

I'm thinking of getting the Alesis DM8 USB kit and then upgrade everything to surge cymbals. But compared to Roland and Yamaha's what will I not be able to produce?

I have a surge cymbal ,good feel and I converted a real snare to electronic,how abt hi hat,have u think abt it
