What guitar do you own and how do u manage ur money??

As i was one of them, maybe we could share some thoughts..

I last bought a Zoom G2 as i could not afford any BOSS pedals....

i realised when i started that starting with a versatile mid ranged guitar would be great, cos firstly, when i just started off, im not sure of the musical direction i would pursue, so on the friendly advice from the swee lee staff, i got a peavey, predator, played many nice tones, den looked into soft and learnt stuff, got myself a roland cube and a zoom multi efx, sold the peavey, dealed around with many stuff, finlaay ended up with a gibby bfg and a fernandes hide mockingbird, hung on the wall damn sexy man, so my advice is, keep a eye for good deals. for me, the GAS has stopped for now :D

for the ultimate budget guitarist - do like me:

borrow your keyboardist's guitar - (i'm serious I do it alot ) ...

save $$$

How i manage my $$$? save lor. Don anyhow spent. I made up my mind to get a EBMM jp, so i save & i got it since 2005, & its still with me.

DO NOT listen to feedbacks eg: this is the best OD pedal ever or dumble in a pedal, whatever, etc. Try the pedal & listen for yourself & i like to emphasize, no pedal will sound like a raging 100w amp + half stack. If you must, then get a amp simulator like PODXT, etc.

Save loh, or rob the store.

One thing I've learned is, never give in to being impatient especially if got GAS lol. Like say you don't have enough and you settle for second best then feel a little regretful sometime along the way.

I've sold some of the stuff I bought on impulse so all I own now is still my first entry level Yamaha guitar from a year and half ago, the bundled amp and a roland cube 30x. Should've gotten 15x or something smaller, or not get it at all :/ I find my 15watt amp to now sound quite decent compared to last time... -_-

Hehehe.. Did you try your Triamp before buying it? Or was it pure gas?

Well.. Budget guitarist or not, if you have the passion, you'll find a way! I mean look at it realistically, nobody can throw around cash to buy whatever they want.. We work, we save, and we spend it wisely..

Start small, any starter set will do.. Just make sure you get a friend who knows about guitars ENOUGH to tell you if its a good piece or not..

Watch out for good deals on Soft, or anywhere else for that matter! I've found some stuff for sale here that were dirt cheap.. You can practically get a 100% refund from selling it at the second hand market price again..

Make sure you make small upgrades, and do not undermine the importance of changing your amp.. A good amp can drastically change your tone.. Like I always say, a $100 guitar into a $5000 dollar amp would sound better than a $5000 guitar into a $100 amp..

AND DON'T LOOK AT BRAND NAME.. What Faizalhacker said was wrong..
I last bought a Zoom G2 as i could not afford any BOSS pedals....

I've tried shitty pedals from BOSS and awesome pedals from Zoom.. It's like comparing Teh and Milo, they ain't perfect substitutes, but it'll do.. Go for tone, not brand name! Ever!

Am I considered a budget guitarist?

I use rather low-end gear, but I'd say, the more high-priced a guitar (talking about reputable brands here), the better the parts, higher-grade wood, etc so yeah I don't think a budget guitarist ought to stay a budget guitarist once he/she has the means to go for higher-end gear.

Always be on the watch out for promos by guitar shops, as well as checking out the second sales of fuitars n effects.

I use D'addarios or ernie ball strings too, cos they are good and cheap.

yeah yeah! part time job, save money. dont rush and regret later on.
and do remember the instrument is only as good as the player.
and dont go for brand names. its the quality that matters.

i started off with a third hand squire P bass and no amp . That was 2 years ago when i was totally noob . Now i remember that loser that sold me that bass haha he was so proud of his 900 buck epiphone thunderbird . Start small and when you find yourself in terms or sound and tone then by all means money wont be an issue haha

My guitarist owns an Epiphone Thunderbird and he is proud of it. He works hard for the money he earned to own that Thunderbird. $900 for some of us, like him and myself, are hard to come by so I think he has every right to be proud of it, even though it's not a much-revered Gibson.

He has sold some basses before on Soft too, but he is a very abled guitarist, though, not quite the 'loser' you described.

Perhaps we are talking about a different person... ;)

there's nth wrong with being a budget type guitarist. there are plenty of people who spend loads of money on gear and cant even get a half decent tone. the best part is, they get pedals and gear for the wrong genre of music summore.... :D

In short, know your stuff and know exactly what do you want before you buy. and yes tone may be subjective but people give good advice too so don just listen to yourself but to others, especially if they have more experience. This is so that you wont waste your money and regret in the long run when you get into the buying/selling phase.

there is nothing wrong with owning a cheap guitar by my friend , we're not on the same frequency . I said the guy who sold me the bass was an ass , he ripped me off knowing i was new to this kinda thing and told me he had not time for me as he had to sell another epiphone bass . It wasnt on soft but i sure hope your friend isnt that asshole .
